The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

What’s up with the new designs being offered as prizes to the Luthiers Corner Build off winner ? Sounds like a great idea for sure but are these one offs or stealth releases ? Inquiring minds !!!! …. Kelly
The preamp is basically a Space Heater, the compressor is basically a modified Keeley comp. I mean I could make extras (I think I have 10 of each board) and sell those as well if anyone is interested, but the plan was for them to just be one-offs for the build off.

Care to expand on the modified keeley comp? The bassist is my current favorite.
It was mostly a frequency response thing. I like the way the Keeley comp works on bass, but I like a really rumbly low end, and I felt like it was cutting too much.

Cool looking board. What's that swirly symbol that looks like a comma with eyes?
Dunno, saw it online somewhere and thought it looked neat.

to paraphrase the grand funk... I'm getting closer to my ...

The HX Stomp ... right now it's just a 2 effects loop controller ... Future Impact on one side, Slampegg into Deep Dish on the other. The Stomp itself is in the effects loop of the Mesa. I think if I had a really good modulation pedal and a 2 or 3 loop controller, preferably midi controllable... this could be it for a while.

For slightly dirty thing... it doesn't get much better for me than a pushed Slampegg. The Mesa of course is amazing... all I need for the clean side.

HX Stomp, definately looking over it's shoulder...

I'm about halfway done testing the January batch, and hot damn I had forgotten how good DWX sounds. That may have to go on my bass board when I officially put together a bass board.

So far every pedal has passed testing except one, a Deep Dish. The compressor part works fine, but in the last revision I tried to improve the gain reduction indicator circuit and successfully made it way worse. Fortunately I designed extra pads into the board so I can swap some parts around and get it back to where it was before.

And boom, done testing. Everything passed with the exception of:
  • Deep Dish - audio was fine, need to fix lights
  • Sunnday Drive - prettty sure it's a bad switch, preamp works but bypass doesn't
  • @Sonicblaze's Echosaurus - I think I forgot to program it, sorry dude
So everything that is working will get boxed up and shipped now, and I'll circle back to the three that didn't afterward.

Lots to love on that pedalboard! Thanks for sharing!

Well I apologize, it looks like shipping notices aren't happening tonight after all, my wife fell asleep early and I had forgotten how long the boxing process takes by myself. So everything that's ready to ship is in a box, I'll get them all taped up and get shipping notices tomorrow, then circle back to the three that need some help.

Umm, yeah, I know. Several pages ago when I was talking about how much I liked mine, and you said something to the effect of “it’s not really my sound”, I thought “well your sound sucks then”.

I’m kidding.

Kinda.

But in all seriousness, it is, in my opinion, an amazing sounding preamp for bass.
