The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Have you had a chance to try it out yet?
Yes, I finally got both boards redone and working together now.

The Loop Blender is a game changer for the Kitteh. Being able to blend in some clean low end makes it 100% usable across its entire gain range, whereas before, the low end was too lacking at lower gain settings.

I wish I had seen the offer to change the SS clean channel to the UA config before I got the shipping announcement. It's what I get for spending a few days in another forum!
Not for nothing, but would it be possible to do a Smoke Signal like preamp with a UA on one channel, a Slampegg on the other, and the ability to use them together or separately? And then maybe add a semi parametric EQ?

While I'm wishing, I'd also like a unicorn .... :)

Also, I joked (kinda) earlier about a preamp based on the Aguilar DB750/751.

Scratch that. I’m getting *really* close to that big, fat tone with the Space Heater at the beginning of my chain, the Dr Wattson X at the end, and a Genzler Re/Q in the middle. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard my Stingray Special sound so good (happened to be the bass I was using for testing and dialing in last night).

Excellent pairing,

I just grabbed a recent (power jack on top) used one. Looking forward to trying it with Fluffy Kitten and Robot Butterfly.
I hope you like it! I won’t get to use mine live for a couple weeks yet, we took the month of January off this year (sick of loading in and out in -20° weather), but I’m loving how it’s sounding both through headphones and my powered EV’s I have at home.

It's doable, my main apprehension about putting UA and Slampegg in the same box is their vastly different output levels. Throwing a large cathode bypass cap like UA has may be all it takes to bring the output level up without noticeably affecting the frequency response, but obviously testing would be required.

Speaking of unicorns…I recall seeing something about a pedal called a Hefty Unicorn awhile back…. @Sushi Box FX , is that something we’re gonna be seeing in the not-too-distant future?
It may be a-little-more-distant-than-originally-planned future. Right now it's basically a modded Klon, but with the amazingness of the artwork it makes me want to do something a little more exciting for the circuit, so I'm thinking about trying to shove a tube in there somehow.

Speaking of artwork, I built an extra Fluffy Kitten in January and gave it to the artist who drew it, and he was super excited. I have a few more upcoming projects for him to work on, but first he's finishing up some commissions for a local dispensary. He gets some weird requests.

If you go too fancy on the tone, I might have to get two of them.
My Fluffy Kitten is sitting on a shelf because I don't really use distortion that much and the SO loves the design (she even rearranged things to the kitten got a more prominent spot on the shelf).
When I saw the design for the Hefty Unicorn she told me I need to get one of these. And you all know what to do when the SO orders gear to be bought.
If I happen to like it so much I decide to make room on my board, It cannot sit on the shelf, though.

.
A bass-specific drive pedal with a tube or two would be awesome.

Reactions: Sushi Box FX
Just finished tallying up the orders for February:
  • Finally - 8
  • Underground Accelerator - 7
  • Fluffy Kitten - 7
  • Space Heater - 5
  • Slampegg Bee Pre - 4
  • Black Eye - 2
  • Sashimi Fuzz - 1
  • JC Emerald - 1
  • Dr. Wattson - 1
  • Echosaurus - 1
It's interesting to see interest grow and fade for certain models, but Finally and UA have been fairly consistent since their release, which makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
