The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Speaking of pedals, here's where things stand for May:

I was hoping to get everything done by the end of the month, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it. I've been making pretty good time, but I'm leaving for a road trip early Friday morning and won't be back until Monday night. Because I'm leaving super early Friday I'm planning to get to bed early Thursday night, so no late night working.

As things stand right now, 7 pedals have been finished and shipped; 15 pedals have been finished and are ready to ship tonight; 3 pedals have been assembled but failed testing and need troubleshooting; 10 pedals have boards put together and enclosures finished and are awaiting final assembly and test; the remaining 5 pedals have enclosures finished and need boards put together, final assembly, and testing.

I'm going to do everything I can without killing myself tonight and see how far I can get, then I plan to ship everything that's ready and drop it off tomorrow. Assuming all goes well with assembly tonight and I'm able to figure out the issues with the 3 troublesome pedals quickly I expect to only need another 2-3 days to finish up the last builds for the month. My (reasonable and attainable) goal is to have everything completed and shipped by June 2, as that is the day I leave for NAMM.

And seriously, if anyone is going to be at (or even near) NAMM, we should hang out.

Feel free to procrastinate on any of mine until you have time. As long as I get them before the end of July I'm good :D

Lol I finished the last of yours last night :p I've been doing them in batches of same, i.e. all the HW UA at one time, all the Lab Rats at one time, etc. So from memory, I think this is where things are:
  • UA (SMD and HW), Slampegg (SMD and HW), Lab Rat (SMD and HW) and JC Emerald are all finished
  • SMD Dr. Wattson, Black Eye, and HW Space Heater (one of each) are assembled but failed testing and need troubleshooting
  • Finally (SMD and HW) boards have been assembled and are waiting final assembly and testing
  • HW Dr. Wattson one board is put together and needs final assembly and test, the other two haven't been put together yet
  • HW Smoke Signal one has gone through final assembly and testing but the voicing sounded off so it was awaiting further testing; I noticed last night that my 3 year-old had been playing with the knobs on my test amp and the EQ was WAAAAAYYYY different than usual (Hi and Hi-mids cranked, Lo and Lo-mids full ccw), so that may have been the only cause of the odd tone and HW Smoke Signal may be fine. The remaining HW Smoke Signal boards need to be put together, final assembly, and testing.
Pretty sure that's it. Smoke Signals take time, which is why I generally procrastinate them until the end. I'm fairly confident that I can get the Finally and HW DW's put together and ready to go tonight, which means I would only have the Smoke Signals and the three troubleshooting units left for when I get back. And frankly with the troubleshooting I have a pretty good idea what the issue is and it's the same thing with all 3, but it's not very fun to fix.

So for those of you who run more than one Suhi Pedal here is what I was able to conjure up for a killer board capable of either IEM or going in front of an amp with no noise.

I had to remove my Becos Stella, and place the Hyper Luminal in between the UA and finally. The symptoms I had were the finally was making a high pitch noise while it was only running. This could’ve been because of the Nux mini studio, while engaged stopped all unwanted noise. That is great for IEM use, but if I want to run in front of an amp and not use a cab sim then a change was needed.

I found that my volume dropped and I had to crank up the gain and volume on the UA to get unity gain while running in front of an amp without the mini studio activated. I wanted unity gain with or without all pedals on or off. So this current configuration works as it should with the Hyper Luminal eliminating gain and noise issues. Glad I had it on hand and I am able to accomplish what I need.

So here it is, after I cut up and soldered new cables, added new feet, and tried to properly and neatly run cables without interference to my HPF and IEC power connection under the board. Oh and both Sushi’s have red LED’s.

I was planning to do the HW Dr. Wattsons before the Finallys (Finallies? nothing looks right to pluralize that) as they'll go faster (transformer and XLR wiring takes an extra bit of time), so that shouldn't be a problem.

Yup, I put all the stickers on this month's enclosures as soon as I realized I forgot to do last month's :P I wonder if I could get permission to just print the logo onto the box so I don't have to worry about remembering to add the stickers, that would make it a bit easier for my forgetful brain.

I hope you can make it to future NAMM Shows, as I am normally there at every Show. This year is unique in many regards, with the most important (from my perspective) being that it overlaps with my daughter's high school graduation, so I am not going this year.

As for my two May orders, I am in no big rush, so feel free to put my pedals at the back of the line.

i have one question though, the clip toggle in the center position seems to act as a noise clamp. Clamp is putting it mild, like a noise bear trap. Is this normal? Is my chain leading up to the LR causing it?

Middle position is no clipping diodes, and that's normal behavior. It gets kind of a glitchy fuzz type sound when the gain is up.

What are those feet on the nano+
Mine are smaller.
I bought some bigger feet but they fit poorly. The idea is to raise the board so I can put a cheap Harley benton power supply underneath without having to spend crazy money for Cioks or Truetone blocks.
