The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Remember that time I said I would list some in-stock pedals for sale? I still haven't done that, but I finally got around to seeing what I have on hand.
  • SMD Underground Accelerator (no tonestack switch) - full color artwork, blue LED, silver knobs
  • SMD Underground Accelerator (no tonestack switch) - raw/simple artwork, blue LED, black knobs
  • SMD Underground Accelerator w/ tonestack switch - raw/simple artwork, blue LED, silver knobs
  • SMD Underground Accelerator w/ tonestack switch and "easy access" tube mount (I'll get pics tonight) - matte black/red print artwork, green LED, silver knobs
  • HW Slampegg - raw/simple artwork, red LED, silver knobs
  • HW Slampegg - matte black enclosure, white LED, silver knobs
  • SMD Finally - raw/simple artwork, red LED, black knobs
  • HW Dr. Wattson - raw/simple artwork, blue LEDs, black knobs
  • SMD Wrecking Ball (on the fence about selling, but maybe) - full color artwork (with misprint), red LEDs, black knobs
I'll get pics of them all tonight if anyone is interested, as my Soldano GTO is out for delivery today :P

Also while I'm here, may as well give a quick August batch update:

All enclosure work (CNC milling, powdercoating, and printing) is complete and I've been working on board assembly. All my parts orders have been delivered and now I'm just plugging along. I'm in better shape for time this month than I was last month, so I expect to have everything shipped before the end of the month. I'm looking at potentially starting final assembly as soon as this weekend.

As tempting as any of those three are, I'm holding out for the Elementary.
I'm still focused on getting the monthly builds finished up, but I'm going to try to find a minute or two to get some recordings of Elementary this week. It sounds really good.

So what your saying is,
The prospect of a UA/Elementary dual preamp is not off the table?
Nope, it's a completely feasible build. I'm confident that I could put both in a box, I would just need to make sure they play nicely together in there.

DISCLAIMER: this is something I am open to but not something I am actively working on or actively planning for. I feel like I need to say that more often to keep myself out of trouble. I already have more prototype boards lying around than I have time to build. Things on my bench right now that I haven't had time to put together and test:
  • Tube power amp emulator prototype
  • Tube noise gate prototype
Things that will be here today and get built eventually:
  • Tube-driven spring reverb prototype
Things that have been ordered and are a week or so out:
  • Black Mirror v2 (if anyone remembers my Black Mirror from a million years ago)
  • Tube delay prototype

“Bringing back” the Black Mirror after you mention getting the GTO has me interested in a v2. I don’t remember the original, was it minitube or X?

I know you said you built a Tubescreamer with a tube many moons ago, and didn't like it.

Have you thought about revisiting it, using the updated LabRat as a foundation?
(Obviously swapping the RAT circuit for a TS circuit)
I don't know, I thought about it. I might take another swing at it one of these days when I have some time.

I believe you're thinking of the Black Eye, which was my take on the Soldano GTO. Black Mirror was something I literally only made two of, and it was an extremely compact Deluxe Memory Man analog delay. It was incredibly difficult to put together and I made a couple mistakes on it, but I've learned enough now that I think it's time to take another swing at it. It may not make it into production for ordering, but I want one for myself.

Some of us are still anxious for the two Bassman variations.
There are plenty of TS/OCD variations. Muffs too..
Just saying.

Yes, my confusion between two different fx.

Ibanez makes the "NTS" Tube Screamer that uses a Korg "Nu-Tube", which is itself two Noritake vacuum fluorescent displays functioning like the two triodes in a 12AX7 tube...
I've kinda been wanting one for a while, even though I don't really have any need for a Tube Screamer... but it does have a Blend knob!

I remember asking @Sushi Box FX about "nutubes" and I recall him saying they're more of, well, basically a gimmick more than anything.

i have one of those and the clean blend is why i bought it, however, it's not an actual full range clean blend and the "clean" cuts a ton of low end making it useless for use with a bass.
