I just wanted to stress, once again, that UPS delivers a parcel to my doorstep within 72 hours (often less) -
While USPS tracking still has not updated from Aug 6, 9:53 am.

Have you tried calling your local PO with the tracking number?
Give it a try, be pleasant, because those supervisors deal with too many douchebags daily..
Provide the tracking number to them, their system can give more information than the ridiculous online status... plus, they have the ability to ask the carrier who last scanned the package about the package.
Most times a simple, polite call works worders...
And for the record, USPS carriers deal with much, much more than UPS or FEDEX ever does.. hope this helps.

I appreciate that, but at the moment, the parcel is out of reach for mere mortals.
German Customs is no place you simply call. Or mail. Or contact via Smoke Signal. I'm not sure about Fax, though. German Customs does as German Customs pleases. If you ask them to hurry, you shall suffer the concequences. This is not only Bureaucracy. This is German Bureaucracy. This is the apex of German Bureaucracy this is ultima ratio. The Alpha and the Omega. Fill out Form 127B and have it stamped in room 2007 on the second floor.

Since the UA is basically a Fender tone stack, how would the BassDude pedals differ? Unless I am missing something, these seem even more redundant than the DW and Elementary.
The BassDude uses the older two-band Fender tonestack so it's a little different. But tonally it covers a lot of the same territory as UA, so I'm not in a hurry to get it into production.

Can I ask about powering a single pedal for a minute?

I've got the UA on my pedal board powered by a Cioks DC10. I get a little bit of oscillation when the gain is turned up to about 95%. That's not a big deal... in reality that's fantastic.

I also have a Space Heater that I plan on using as a stand alone device (purely as a preamp). I powered it with my trusty 1-Spot and I start getting oscillation with the gain turned up around 50%. Full disclosure... this is one of the DIY Space Heaters. This is the original single plug 1-Spot with nothing else attached. I've tried it in two different locations (home and rehearsal space) with the same results.

So I thought I would do an A/B comparison.

I pulled the UA from my board and swapped in the Space Heater. With the Cioks I get the same 95% gain before oscillation starts. That's awesome.

I powered the UA with that same 1-Spot. Same results... I start hearing oscillation around the 50% mark. This is with the TS switch in bypass mode. With the Tone Stack engaged I can turn the gain all the way up with no oscillation.

So I guess I have two questions...

1. Does anyone else experience similar with a 1-spot?

2. Anyone have suggestions for another single pedal power supply that gives enough juice?

I guess if I had to I could use my other Cioks (DC5) with my setup... but the plan was to make this rig small enough to throw in the gig bag. Every piece of equipment gets me one step further away from that goal.

So you're getting oscillation on the UA with a OneSpot when you have nothing else in the chain? I would definitely be interested if anyone else has similar experiences. When I test each UA before shipping I turn the gain up all the way including in the tonestack bypass setting. I also turn the gain up all the way on Space Heaters (which is the same thing as UA with the tonestack bypassed) and have never had oscillation with them.

I can shoot a quick vid with me running through settings if that's helpful. I can also give more specifics, just let me know what would be of most use for you.

Those 60's Bassman 50-60 watt amps were much used by both guitar and bass players because so many variations were available using that simple 2 band stack and it sounded great at all volume levels from low and quiet to cranked and screaming. Those Bassman amps were the second most popular amps in recording studios after the Ampeg B15 used by many greats from Paul McCartney to David Hood at Muscle Shoals. Many of the guitar greats of the 70's used a cranked Bassman head for crunchy rhythm and lead tones because unlike many of imported amps they kept working night after night.

IMHO the BassDude would be as different, distinctive and valuable as a tone shaping tool as the Slampegg Bee vs the SVBT+ in comparison to the UA which I do love.

I rest my case.gif

Sounds like the bunch that inspired the Vogons...

Got my Dr. Wattson yesterday. I had a chance to try it today. Only with headphones so far. Holy smokes! What a great sounding pedal! I bought it because I like the Hiwatt Emulation in the HX Stomp. This is even better to my ears. Running it through my Khan VTDI, it is about perfect. The DI I use makes a difference though. I like the DR. Wattson best with the Khan. I like my Underground Accelerator better with my Lightning Boy TI Box. The TI Box gives the Underground Accelerator better mids and the Khan gives the Dr. Wattson better sounding highs and deeper lows. I'll get a chance to try the Dr. Wattson with my PF50t tomorrow at band practice. Very happy!

Interesting. I have been struggling with guitar tones from my Wattson, they always seem dark, but i've only run it through my "guitar" DIs, which arejust passive IMPs. I have a Khan, and the evening free, I'll have to experiment and report back.

That said, given that I mostly want the clean sound, an Elementary is sounding right up my alley.

i just completed my replacement pcb for my space heater DIY (i had the IRF740 180 rotated degrees in my first one and installed as specified in the second one). i just tested it but i can't turn the gain up much on it before it spits and squeals with anything but a 12AU7 (and it's super LOUD!), but it doesn't distort hardly at all with the AU. it seemed to work perfectly with the IRF740 backwards with a 12AX7!). i'm going to take a look at this build now to make sure that i didn't make any errors building up the second PCB.

That's really interesting, I'm going to take a look at the IRF740. I designed the board to put it in the same way I always have in all my builds, so it was odd to hear that it was working backwards. I'm going to try flipping it around in one of my builds. I had assumed it would only work one way, but if it works backwards, it works backwards.

I ran the Finally through its paces at practice last night through my gigging pedalboard. I get the SushiBox love now, it was everything I hoped for, ya'll know what I mean, it's hard to describe in one word, the best I can do is PRESENCE. Sheen, grit, hair all work as well.

I did drive it with 2 TC Sparks, which have their own goodness, one set at mid, one at bass. The result was so big I had to drop volume levels as it cut through so well, and the sound was so big it was overpowering, a great problem to have. My Sansamp BDDI, and Phat Phuk B are now obsolete.

Going through my Truetone CS7 using a dedicated 500 mA output yielded no noise, it was dead quiet. The beauty of this power supply is that it has two 500 mA outputs, so I can also run my UA through it.

Great time to be a bassist, tube amp sound from a 5 lb head!

Awesome :hyper: were you using the DI to mixing board or the 1/4" to amp / power amp ? Or both ?!

well, i checked and double checked and everything appears to be correct, so i'm starting to wonder about that IRF740 placement too.

Out of my two Space Heater PCB's one works well and the other isn't working.

PCB 1- Sounds fantastic, but is pretty picky about the power supply. It doesn't care much for my 1-Spot (9v 1700 mA)... however it does much better with my Cioks DC10 running 9v with 800mA. I get a little oscillation at the top of the dial, but I bet I could tune that out with a trim pot. Sounds best with the 12AX7, but also works well with a 12AT7 and 12AU7.

PCB 2- sigh... The only real sound I get form it is either low level white noise, or oscillation. I've re-flowed the PCB, checked all my connections for solder bridges, double checked values on resistors, double checked electrolytic orientation, ensured the inductor was seated well, checked voltages into the tube, flipped the IRF740 twice, replaced the 2N3904, along with a few other things. Since I'm using the same boards with parts form the same lots with different results I know it has to be user error... I'm just not sure what that user error is.

I did order one more board to replace the one that isn't functioning for me. I'll build it up sometime this week and report back.
