Y'all seem to be missing the unique beauty of the MORE, that getting those 4 stages of beautiful pristine tube goodness in a 9v powered single sized pedal is a freaking miracle for little more than 2 Benjamins, where before it was only found in 2 to 3 space 19" racked studio gear like mic preamps and compressors.

Adding a gain stage or tone stack is like adding a bikini to the Mona Lisa or putting a gunny sack over The Rock.

IMVHO the only worthy addition might be a transformer stage or two but that would mean a bigger box and higher price.

For now just love the

What I'm saying is that some things are perfection as they are, no improvement needed. Without the search and drive for better, bigger, badder, faster, better, MORE the world would be a boring place but let us not forget those things that are just right as is.

I've not had the pleasure of trying the More as yet, but that and a Space Heater are on my shopping list.

The More really interests me (as does the Deep Dish if i can find one in UK!), My signal path is mostly all tube and wouyld love to hear what the More brings.

I agree with this fully. I wouldn’t change a thing about the More, it’s absolutely perfect just as it is. I love what it does to my tone, along with a HWSH further down the chain, and a Finally at the end of it.

I'm looking forward to "Furthermore" myself, which might be a 1 pedal solution for me. It'll probably have a 1 MΩ input impedance, though, so I'd still need something to clean boost my piezo EUB's output (unless it could have a 1 to 10 MΩ circuit/switch, which probably isn't likely).

Still on the list, very near the top. I want it to happen, and I want to make sure I do it right. There are a couple R&D things that need to be worked out first, but I promise it is still happening.

Elementary will be available for ordering in the October batch, which I'm planning to open up tonight as soon as I'm finished powdercoating. Revised Smoke Signal boards (currently dubbed Smoke Signal III) have been designed and ordered and I just got a shipping notification from the manufacturer, ETA is September 22.

SUPER QUICK TUBE LESSON TO EXPLAIN WHY I THINK THAT'S COOL

In audio there are two main types of tube, triodes and pentodes. Typically preamp tubes (12AX7, 7025, etc.) are dual triodes, which means you have a pair of triodes, i.e. two stages, in a single tube. Power tubes (EL84, EL34, 6L6, 6550, etc.) are typically pentodes, and pentodes are almost always just a single pentode stage per tube.

So remember the EF86, which powered the Westinghouse? Well that's a pentode designed for preamp use, and those that have played with an EF86 know it has a special magic, it just feels a little different than a 12A*7 tube.

WELL GUESS WHAT???

6AN8 is a combo tube, it has a pentode stage and a triode stage. So looking at the 200S and 2000S schematic they have a 12AX7 using both stages for gain on the front end which then drive the tonestack, and then we jump into the pentode stage of the 6AN8 for some classy backend gain, then they use the 6AN8 triode stage as a phase inverter to feed the power section. We could repurpose this last triode stage as an output buffer since we don't need a phase inverter in a preamp. So they're able to create a versatile and complex-sounding preamp using only two tubes, which is really really cool.

And there you have it class, we just designed a Sunn 200S/2000S preamp pedal.

That's really cool.

Just pulled the dealer's choice enclosures out of the oven, and I have to say I like the color even better than I expected to. I'll grab some pictures when they aren't 400 degrees (fahrenheit of course). It's getting a little late so I'll wait to do printing on them tomorrow.

Turns out this is another of those "difficult to accurately photograph" finishes, but this is the best I could do to accurately show what it looks like.

I believe "misty teal" is what they call it. I was nervous as it more or less looked black when it was sprayed on, but I really dig the look when it's cured.

This is for September. I have the powder on hand for October, but I haven't tried it out yet.

I use the Sonic Farm 2di4. as my direct box. It has a pentode mode. Can confirm that in pentode it sounds better than anything I've ever heard. It beat out the REDDI and a few others on it's way to my chain. The only issue is the size and weight make it tough for a live board. Now you've got me interested in a "Sunnburst"? "Sunnstroke"? "Sunburn"? "Solar Flare"? "My Immortal Sol"? I think most of the Helios reverences have been taken. Anyway, my only issue would be the lack of "heavy iron" without a transformer. But then, it would probably be just as heavy as my Sonic Farm. I suppose you can't have everything. Who am I kidding, I want everything.

I obviously routed things such that the high voltage is kept far away from anywhere your fingers are going to be On the offchance something does go wrong there's a power switch to remove power to the preamp so you can finish your set with it as a passive bass. I consider it 100% a gimmick and conversation piece, not a practical gigging instrument, but I tried to design it to be as practical as possible.

Sure I have no doubt!
