The 'fake-pedal' idea sounds great! Bring it on!

BTW, I love sushibox and the way it's developing and would still be happy without such a mechanism, just thought I'd share. Great work on the site! And of course, great work on the pedals :)

I'd vote for a SushiBox mic pre if it can be done reasonably and still be relatively great . There are several lower end mic pre's out already of course but no one has been falling all over them for their massive sound qualities . Really good mic pre's seem to be very pricey so maybe it goes with the territory but perhaps Senor Sushi can find some magic there too for us poor folk ! It'll be interesting to hear about the one he mentioned he was making already .... Kelly

I have a good handful of NOS USA and European tubes that I've been hoarding, and the British Mullard and Holland Amperex sound amazing. Also a big fan of Honeywell and Raytheon from USA and Tungsram from Hungary. My personal top picks from my collection ;)

They're very different beasts in general. PA has less gain on tap and is largely a clean preamp, whereas the DW has two tubes and will get you into overdrive territory if you push it. Both have plenty of output volume, but DW has more gain.

Currently Hammond 1590X. I'm looking at doing a mini version abd potentially a 2 tube version, both of which would put it in a Hammond 1590BB.

When I was first putting my recording rig together I picked up a couple Behringer tube mic pres and was appalled at the sound. Not that they sounded inherently terrible, the EQ circuit was pretty flexible, but they added zero character to the sound, and that's why we use tubes.

Currently I use an interface with decent mic pres built in (Focusrite Clarett8Pre) but I have a friend with a better ear for recording than me but less opportunities to get cool gear, so I try to help him out every now and then with builds. This was one on his wish list, and I can post more details on it when I remember where I put them :P

I was originally holding out for January, but I caved. Yes, December orders can be changed to X Series.

Speaking of which, it looks like I need to clean the printhead on my printer, but I'd say the alignment test went pretty well.

Not a preamp guy, but I love OD.
Sounds like a DW is in my future.

Is that was that top left splatter is? are you printing the case horizontal? looks like the heads direction if so. I'm still contemplating getting one, you can be the perfect guinea pig ;)

The switches on the regular Slampegg were pretty subtle so I decided to leave them off the X version. I didn't think anyone would be heartbroken over it.

Yup, that's the top left splatter, and I am printing the case horizontal. It made the most sense for the way my jig is set up. So far I really like the printer, and come January I expect to be doing all the pedal artwork with it instead of the laser. I may even decide to do all the X Series with it in December since I skipped doing a laser layout for them and went straight to a print layout.
