That's hilarious, even Mesa/Boogie won't try to put that EQ in a pedal much less tubes.
It was a cool amp but confusing for the average bass beast.

A question did come up if I was ever planning to get back into compressors, and the answer there is yes. I have one prototype on the bench right now, but I either made it too subtle or it's just not actually working, it just sounds like a clean preamp. I have a couple other ideas I want to try out, but again those will be pushed back until I can clear some other things off my list.

A question also came up if I was planning to do a "Noble killer" to which the answer is both yes and no. I am planning to do a flexible, great sounding preamp with a great sounding D.I. section (Furthermore), which is what Noble is. It will be smaller and less expensive, which as I discussed last night is largely due to me using 9-12VDC input rather than AC input, which means I don't need a power transformer, which is the largest and probably the most expensive single component in the Noble. I like what Noble does, it's a very well-designed and well-built unit and I have a lot of respect for them. I'm not trying to steal customers from them, just trying to offer something a little different that checks a lot of the same boxes.

I think those were kind of the highlights, I haven't gone back and watched it again yet, but that probably summarizes the bulk of it.

Just so everyone knows...
The Venus X is my signature Preamp that I have been involved with...Its going to kill. I have to truly love and stand behind what my name is against.
Its a work in progress and we finally nailed down the tone of the EQ.

Someone asked me about that one a while ago, I've heard good things about the Walkabout. If I remember right the schematics aren't readily available, so unless someone wants to ship one to me to take apart and trace, I don't anticipate it happening.

That's one of the main reasons I didn't push it super hard. I actually have a working prototype of it, but it's not wildly different from UA. I won't say they're they're exactly the same by any means, but there's a lot of overlap between the two.

That's one of the main reasons I didn't push it super hard. I actually have a working prototype of it, but it's not wildly different from UA. I won't say they're they're exactly the same by any means, but there's a lot of overlap between the two.

IIRC the prototype you showed had two tubes for the BassDude. I know my Bassman head has a different character from my PA and UA that has got to have something to do with the gain staging as well as the tone controls. It could be said that the SVT and B15 have overlap between the circuits the same way but they sure sound and feel different.

So far, it is sounding pretty good to me, IMHO.

@bassbrad To my ear the UA has a lot more bass on tap than what I remember of my Showman Amp days. Kind of unfair due to modern cabinets vs vintage cabinets. Even vintage cabinets with EV's or JBL's. The UA also has more bass on tap than my F1x. I often have the mids and treble up to 10 and the bass at noon. Perfectly acceptble results. The same settings on the F1x would be thin and shrill.

The full EQ wouldn’t be necessary though I can get why it might be confusing to some people. Of course for some people anything other than a volume is just a little too much for them haha.

One thing I’ve learned about Mesa products is that you really should read the manual.

Agreed the UA is a perfect evolution and exactly why we love @Sushi Box FX

I saw BMG in Toronto ages ago. The act was good, but the band was excellent. Hands down my favourite element of the show. Not sure if you were playing or not.

I did my share of travel with them…Especially pre being a Dad…I have played with BMG in Canada, Europe and South America. Quite possible BUT I was not the only guy.
