Fluffy Kitten is an interesting case since it uses JFETs, which are the most common thing people use to replace tubes when they do solid-state versions of tube circuits. And anyone who has tried Fluffy Kitten (there are probably 20-30 out in the world) can attest that while it doesn't sound awful, it doesn't sound like a tube preamp.

But did the solid state Kitten go as feral as the Dreamcatcher red channel? Running something burly like the DC red channel at max aggression into the tube goodness of the DC red set "responsibly dirty" is the idea. I don't want to catch dreams I want to catch nightmares. Ha ha.

Sounds more like a recipe for a two channel preamp with the option of running the channels in series.

If you are looking for nightmare then you want a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], the red channel is brutal. It's discontinued but used ones do come up for sale, there is one in the classifieds.

That's my favorite part, with the gain down super low you can get an almost-clean sound out of the Dreamcatcher red channel. But fully cranked it (mathematically at least) has more gain than Smoke Signal. They're voiced differently so it wouldn't exactly be an apples-to-apples comparison to A/B them, but the goal with the Dreamcatcher design was "what would Smoke Signal want to be when it grows up?"

Thanks for the kind words, always appreciated :D Glad you're enjoying it! For reference, every UA gets tested on a sweep of all the controls, but I start every UA test with gain and master both at noon, mids full clockwise, and treble and bass at noon. It's one of my favorite tones.

I used my MORE at the end of a chain of fx for a unique jazz/orchestral project on double bass. I'm not saying my bass sounds bad without it, but for this rehearsal, being the first time I've used it on double bass, it's so lovely and thick. Not gonna lie, part of me wants one with juicy transformer DI, I have other options for that for now. Having it all in one box is very seductive.

I have used my More at the start and end of my chain. I greatly prefer it at the end (after preamps and modulation, but before any time based effects). A Finally/More DI (... handwired since it will likely have to go in a bigger enclosure anyway ...) might be the only thing I would consider swapping with my More.

Asking for advice or possible help. Got a MORE from Dec batch. Really enjoy it. Love the special sauce it gives. But, having noise issue with amp. It is near the beginning of my chain, after Qtron and before drive/UA/phaser chorus. I have tried at end of chain too. With MORE turned down or bypassed no noise issue. With it turned up and to FOH no issue. With it turned up and gain on amp turned down little issue at all. But, turn gain up on amp and there is a loud hum. As gain goes up it gets louder and starts to scream. I’m ok just using gain from board and amp flat, but it really sings (other than the hum) with the gain up.
Don’t know if there is an easy answer or solution but I’m open to ideas. With my three Sushi’s, that is 4 tubes on the board so it could be just too much with gain added on the amp.

JC Emerald with Marshall Gold Top knobs.jpg

With Marshall Gold Top style knobs, I have a gold button for the footswitch somewhere.
This setting has Super Grunt & Drive with plenty of lows and punch. Sounds like classic rock especially when I use a Mosky D250x, a DOD 250 and MXR Distortion+ clone. This made me whip out my guitar and piccolo basses again.

PC-2A>MORE>MORE>Preamp

Just ‘had’ to try it…preamp seems to enjoy a good tube feeding. Now I’m scared to try other Sushi pedals—in enough rabbit holes already.;)

Did you like that better than: MORE > PC-2A > MORE = That is more like using a studio tube Compressor.

Honestly, I didn’t try that order. When I received the first M, I tried it at the beginning—didn’t do anything great (to my ears)…didn’t think to experiment at the beginning again.

After hearing the current chain order, I quit testing—boom ‘there’ :)

What do you get from adding the second More? Same effect as the first, just more of it?
