I like this approach and wish more preamps worked that way.

But a full release and making it available for customer ordering looks like it's going to be slipping closer to the summer.

Like this. I would be more inclined to look at the Venus now knowing the cab sim won’t go out through the 1/4”. Good move and good luck at NAMM.

This is great news! Working out the ground lift to be on the outside too will set this piece over the top!

That makes so much sense, I would use this in the exact way you have described and you could mic a cab or go straight to board from the 1/4" plus have cab sim via XLR.

I'm really looking forward to hearing some sound clips of this one especially if @TonyP- chops are all over it! :bassist:

I have parts coming for that today, I'm hoping to play with it before I go. The unit I bring with me to NAMM will not have an external ground lift switch, but I have an idea to work it into the production units.

Venus X will have an external ground lift switch. I'm going to continue looking for a better place for it as we work on the other mods, but this turned out to be a better setup than I expected it to be.

I considered (and am still considering) a slide switch. When I ordered these subminiature toggles the intention was to put it somewhere on the face of the pedal, but I found that this spot makes more sense from a wiring perspective and doesn't get in the way of anything functionally or aesthetically.

I still have time to play with things, and the company that is doing enclosures for me can absolutely do rectangular cuts on any side of the pedal, so a slider is certainly possible. The only thing I don't love about the toggle is that if it gets dropped or whacked just wrong the switch could easily be damaged.

The switch also might get in the way of a right angle XLR cable going out the rear. Something lower profile would be great if possible.

I humbly suggest a sub-mini pushbutton.

I have. But I am able to alleviate the issue with certain pedals in combination that meet my needs. I’ve tested with multiple PS’s, good ones at that, and still had noise issues. Certain pedals don’t play nice with one another and I found this out a long time ago when I was trying every effect type known to man.

You just have to try to figure out the culprit. I’ve used a Dream Catcher with a finally for an entire gig, no noise. I use a UA and finally at every gig I play, no noise. But I have an IEM board that has a TC IR loader on it, and when switched on it tames all my Sushi pedals.

With my IEM board in front of an amp, I bypass the the IR and finally’s 1/4” out. I still run my UA and all is good.

YMMV

I haven't been by in awhile and thought I'd pop in. My preamp purchases have slowed down, but I realized that I missed my PA and never should have sold it, then realized I had never tried the UA, and Nathan had one in stock so .... I'm going to add it to my Helix Stomp XL to access quick tones and tweaks.

I have my Finally attached to the Stomp and it's killer. For anyone that says the Helix stuff is sterile, there's your answer. Not only does it add tube warmth, but it's also a quick volume contole. Adding the UA should also give me a little grind when I need it.

Anyways, looked through the back posts and that Venus looks super cool. This thread is bad for my GAS, but good for my soul :)
