I'm actually looking at using a different (better) EQ, but I haven't finalized it yet. That was the purpose of my "Euclid" prototype that's still sitting somewhere on my workbench. It's inductor based instead of just RC so it's a passive tonestack that's capable of boosting mids. I really like how it sounds and how flexible it is, but I'm on the fence about adding in a 4th band so you have hi-mids and lo-mids. Right now it's a 3-band with a mids-selector switch similar to SVT to choose mids frequency, but I like the idea of having two mids controls.

Anyway. I don't think anything will get done until I get the workshop cleaned up, looking at the giant mess in there makes me feel less motivated to work, so that's probably going to be my weekend project.

Yeah depending on how clean I can get the workshop this weekend I may try to grab a quick recording of Euclid. It was just intended as a design try-out for the inductor-based EQ, but I used More as the preamp to drive it, and it sounds delightful.

+1 for 2 mid controls. Preferably each with their own frequency selector! That's nearly a requirement for me on amps/preamps anymore. It really helps "clear the mud" and dial in a tight tone especially for those of us that play 5-strings - and then extra especially for those of us nuts that put drop tuners on their low B!

On tube rolling with a JJ ECC83MG / 12AX7MG in a Underground Accelerator. The tone is deliciously dark with minimal tube saturation even at high gain settings, lots of punchy lows and mids and having a more crystal high end. If the UA is a baseline for good medium roast coffee with the 12AX7MG it is dark roast with a hint of chocolate, 3 sugars and a splash of Half and Half. Mmmm. My new favorite for fretless bass, my Ibanez UB804 or a trad jazz guitar tone.

The Bass Dude [Fender Bassman] is my new favorite for some of my basses, that 2 band tone is magical and intuitive, feels a bit more open almost Hi-Fi than the TMB in the UA and has top end clarity that the Slampegg Bee is lacking while still having a robust bass guitar voice. If this makes it into production I'd likely buy another.

Is there a place to learn about the various iterations of the baxandall tone stack?

2 mids with selectable frequency. This is the way.

Been looking for B15 type EQ for my PBass with flats - so many people tend to do the SVT sound that I never looked to see what the Slampegg EQ was based on.

I use an active stingray (4 string) with flats and love how it sounds with the Slampegg... very warm with thumping low end.
