So the Wrecking Ball is three tubes, which means it needs A LOT of power, I don't know if the current doubler would be able to handle it. On start-up before the tubes are warm it will try to pull up to 2300mA, and when it's done warming up it still pulls about 930mA. When I test Wrecking Balls I usually use a 12V 4A adapter I have for LED lighting that cost like $8I’ll definitely let you know how it goes when I get a chance to use it, I’ve wanted a Mesa Rectifier for like ten years but have never been able to justify getting one - especially now that I play more bass than electric guitar. So I’m glad I found out about the Wrecking Ball and can finally get that rectifier tone without going all in on a head! I’m in the process of demoing guitar for a bunch of songs I’m working on so I’ll probably use it on a recording and I’ll absolutely share it when I do. Anything special I should know about it RE the sensitive tubes? I got a current doubler cable for my CIOKS too so hopefully that’ll work and I won’t need to get a one spot.
As for the tube sensitivity, the best fix I've found has been VHB tape between the tubes, you'll see I put some in there. It stops the tubes from oscillating and keeps the noise down, and it's good for high temperatures so it won't melt and make a mess on the tubes. There's really nothing you need to do on your end, just let me know if it ever starts squealing uncontrollably, which is a good sign of tube oscillation.
