I’ll definitely let you know how it goes when I get a chance to use it, I’ve wanted a Mesa Rectifier for like ten years but have never been able to justify getting one - especially now that I play more bass than electric guitar. So I’m glad I found out about the Wrecking Ball and can finally get that rectifier tone without going all in on a head! I’m in the process of demoing guitar for a bunch of songs I’m working on so I’ll probably use it on a recording and I’ll absolutely share it when I do. Anything special I should know about it RE the sensitive tubes? I got a current doubler cable for my CIOKS too so hopefully that’ll work and I won’t need to get a one spot.

It stops the tubes from oscillating and keeps the noise down, and it's good for high temperatures so it won't melt and make a mess on the tubes. There's really nothing you need to do on your end, just let me know if it ever starts squealing uncontrollably, which is a good sign of tube oscillation.

i know that Sunn Model T's are pretty popular with bass players but after owning mulitples of A LOT of Sunn amps, IMO, the 200S/190B is/was the the best sounding one out of all of them, and the 2000S/350B was a pretty close second. i'd like to see a Sushibox 200S or a 2000S in the future. and by the way, it's a very simple circuit.

Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions, but do you think a OneSpot will be enough juice/have you or anyone else tested a Wrecking Ball with one? According to OneSpot’s site it has a max output of 1700ma - so if that underpowers the pedal too much on warm-up I’d rather find something more specialized that’ll supply the full 2400ma.

Dang that's pretty! By chance, does your phone have a 'gif' mode for it's camera? I'd love a shot with your phone moving back and forth a bit catching the light/showing how it sparkles.

It's a blue/teal straight up in person, but really hard to photograph and looks different depending on how light hits it.

I've never used the gif maker function...hopefully that works...

So when I'm actually playing through one I still use a OneSpot and it does fine. Notice I said tries to pull 2400mA, it can still heat up just fine without damaging anything on a 1700mA supply, it may just take an extra minute or so. Not a big deal at all, OneSpot will work.

And frankly it may be trying to pull even more than 2400mA out of my supply and my meter wasn't fast enough to capture it. A tube will basically try to pull as much as it can fron whatever supply it has. 1700mA should be just fine.

If you want to try a second shot some time, set the pedal on a desk, shine a light on it, and move your phone in an "arc" over the top of the pedal. That usually does pretty good since its down to one thing moving/phone stays focused a bit better.

Eventually I'll throw one of these sparkle gif's up on the site

Got mine in yesterday... Matte black with silver knobs and purple LED. Kinda boring compared to that chameleon sparkle, but I was going for "the Ampeg look." I know it's not spot on, but @Sushi Box FX doesn't offer a chrome finish.

Well I actually ordered some, but I haven't tried it out yet. I need to stop offering more finishes, November had 13 different colors in the batch

Some quick thoughts, but I've never owned a real B-15 of any sort to compare to, so keep that in mind...

After only a short time with it this morning, I'm digging it a lot! It adds plenty of warmth and thickness (toobz!), and has a lot more gain on tap than I was expecting. As previously mentioned in the thread, the Bright switch is a bit subtle, but it's there. The Ultra Hi and Ultra Lo are nice for changing up the sound, and the Lo especially ads some serious oomph.

So far my fav settings are: Gain @ 9:00, Treble @ 10:00, Bass @ 3:00, and Master at 1:00 (set for unity on/off volume), Ultra Hi/Lo and Bright all off. This gets me the tube sound I was hoping for. Warm and thick without being flabby, with just a little bit of breakup. Sounds GREAT with the P Bass & flats all around... Finger style, palm muting, and with a pick for classic tic tac sounds and Bobby Vega style pick grooves.

Leaving Treble at 12:00 and dialing back bass to about 1:00 nets a nice overall sound to add tube warmth without quite so much of the "Ampeg" sound, and adding the Ultra Hi really adds some zing with roundwounds. I'll probably end up leaving the Hi switch off most of the time.

Switching on the Ultra Lo makes quite a difference in the gain knob. I had to up the Gain knob to about 1:00 to get the same effect as with it off. No biggie of course, as there's lots of gain on tap. It makes for a big sound, but gets a bit woofy and I dialed the bass knob back to about 12:00. Adding both the Ultra Hi and Ultra Lo creates the mid-scooped sound as one would expect.

Pretty happy with my purchase, it's definitely the sound I was hoping for in an Ampeg preamp style pedal! Looking forward to getting it on my board and trying it out in a live mix. (well, whenever gigs start coming back anyway.) That tube adds a nice "something" and I suspect I'm going to become fairly attached to the Slampegg.
