The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

On an unrelated note, the youtube demo of the JC Emerald is crappy and IMHO should by "unlinked" from the S-Box site. It was done by 2 guys who are not into dirty tones. They barely scratched the surface of its' palette. I find it's misleading and inappropriately non-flattering. That review is like asking someone who hates spicy food his opinion of Tabasco.
I didn’t know there was a video on the site, but I was sure I knew exactly who you were talking about :D

I knew you’d end up with an Elementart/Dr Watson/Detective sooner or later, but the JC Emerald surprised me.
How dirty does it get? Are we talking classic OD (like a driven amp), or Justin Chancellor/Tool modern distortion?

It's much more on the driven Marshall tube head spectrum. The Zio can be very round with deep and wide lows if desired, and the 2 sound like they were made for each other......like gin and olives......

Duly noted.

12AX7 has 5 times as much gain as 12AU7, which means with a 12AX7 installed and the gain turned up you can get a fair amount of overdrive. Some people like this, some people don't. With a 12AU7 installed the pedal becomes completely clean with no overdrive, and the Gain control becomes more of a "saturation" control.

Yup that was it. I've been talking with Philip about doing this for over a year, and after we met in person at NAMM we chatted some more and decided it was time to finally (lol) make it happen. He's been using my pedals for years and we've chatted quite a bit, and he is the nicest person you'll ever meet. Super excited to work with him.
Hi,
? Is the only difference in this edition the tube ? or other tweaks made as well ? if so ?
Thanks

I just checked out the "Bassed" demo of the JC Emerald. These guys do not speak to me.

I decided the sale will go live at midnight Central time April 1 and will apply to all in-stock pedals. The sale will end April 2 at midnight for everything except Bassdude, I'll leave that one on sale until it sells out, I could use the shelf space.

The amount of the discount will vary from unit to unit, but will be 10% minimum.

EDIT: as I was setting up the sale on the website I realized I don't have very many models in stock. I spent a lot of time getting the Bassdudes and Nobeliums built up and it took time away from my usual lineup. I have a handful of backorders already so those will get priority, but once those are filled I will work to get stock back up for everything.

I see it says sale but the new price is the same as the slashed prices.

I checked shortly after midnight CST & noticed the same. Ultimately it was neither here nor there though, I thought the unit I was considering showed several in stock earlier in the day but I must have been mistaken as they were backordered when I checked at midnight.
Yeah just fired up the computer and I see that, not sure what went wrong. I'll jump in and fix it, stay tuned.

And here I just thought you were pulling an April Fools prank:roflmao:
I'm all for a harmless practical joke, but saying there's going to be a sale and not following through is, in my opinion, what we call "a dick move".

Just got it fixed, things are actually on sale now.

Now that it is ordered, the site mentions that it can be dialed back by switching out tubes in the Bassdude. Will I want to switch out both, just 1, which first, and to what? I have 12AU7s, and 12AT7s available already. I know I will want to swap out something as my bass is active and I had to swap to a 12AT7 in both the Finally and Elementary to get more useable clean room for my situation.

I swapped a 12AU in v1 in mine. Basically just lowers the gain so you have a wider range before going into overdrive. Still can get dirty, I have my gain at 12 noon and it's clean, but can push it into a bit of grit with a boost before.

This one is a long watch and the first half or so is on guitar, but it's pretty thorough on going through the controls. Bass starts around 18 minutes in, sounds like it's all pick, and frankly sounds a lot like a guitarist playing a bass rather than a bassist, but you get the idea.
