I can get all kinds of sounds from it like traditional strat tones, a bridge or neck humbucker sound, the middle position of a Tele, some interesting out of phase tones, and more.

I play both as well. But the real trick is I play guitar and bass plus right AND left handed. Now where is the club for that?
I play both guitar and bass. I take auditions on both instruments and have occasionally auditioned on both for the same band.
I like both but in different ways.
I'm playing mostly bass at the moment, but that can (and usually does) change.
I suck at taking pics, but here's my current stable:

no number for me, but it's bass in one band, guitar in another, guitar mando and lap steel in a third.
as a kid i couldn't decide if i wanted to be ace frehley or gene simmons, so i had a guitar and a bass.
no flashy tapping/slapping nonsense on bass, but i pride myself on being solid and in the pocket, and i try to play bass like i want my bass player to play when i'm playing guitar.
still primarily a pick player, but my fingerstyle is getting better.

Have always had at least 1 bass around ('77 4001 / Rogue RB100...pics posted elsewhere on TB) for writing / recording demos.
Due to current band situation, have been totally committed to bass the past 2 years, but here's my "go to" 6-string:
Bare Knuckle "Stormy Monday" pickup at the neck and IIRC, a Seymore Duncan '59 PAF at the bridge. All nickel hardware, Switchmaster toggle & jack, CTS pots and custom wiring harness from TundraTone (pre-wired kit with NOS bumblebee caps).
Outplays every other guitar I've ever owned, bar none. Still keep a few others around for tonal variety, but this is the one I reach for first...

For my now defunct side project I wrote most of the original rhythm guitar parts, either exclusively or after catching an idea the rhythm guitarist threw at me, and recorded a few of the lines.

I thought that this was gonna be a club for people who hit the pickup switch on their guitar while strumming....
That dang tele always ends up in the bridge position at an awkward time!!
And I do gig both when I have the opportunity. Right now it's just guitar, though.

I reversed the control plate on my Tele, and it solved the problem. Very easy modification. It also puts the volume control closer to your pinky if you're into that volume swelling thing.

I'm in the process of building one that uses a control plate, so I'm gonna wire it up with the switch at the back
me too!
i also went in for a custom callaham control plate that moved the middle knob 1/2" away from the switch, so it was easier to switch away from "neck" on the fly.
it's still not quite as easy as i'd like (even after bending the toggle over bill kirchen-style) so i might just get myself one of Invalid Link Removed from rutters.

This weekend my church P&W band is doing a community day thing and we will be playing outdoors. Im gona be switching between guitar and bass throughout the set (3 hours). Not just between guitar and bass but between a drop C guitar, and a standard tuned 5 string.
Should be interesting.

Guitar + Bass (and a few others)
The first real instrument I learned to play was the violin in the 5th grade. I wanted to play Star Wars(John Williams is the man) and Devil Went Down to Georgia!
I figured out Star Wars, but that other one? Umm yeah....
A year later I got into guitar with an accoustic steel string, and "graduated" to an electric with a Lake Placid Blue strat with a maple board and a kick amp. Thanks dad!
A few years later, once I had a job, I bought my first bass: a SquierII P-bass, black with a maple fretboard, and a Crate B-80XL. Remember those? I bought this because of two things: I'm a huge Iron Maiden fan and Steve Harris got me to look past guitar solos and made me realize that bass is actually very cool. The second thing is that I started messing around with recording some music at a friends house and we needed a bass and started my formative garage band days.
Truth be told, I have played more gigs as a guitarist, or in one band as guitar/keys/vox, but I've only played one gig as a bass player and had a blast doing it. Over the 28+ years of being a musician I also picked up keys and drums, but I play more bass these days than anything else.

I play bass first. I love my Ibanez RD850. But I also play acoustic guitar and front with either as needed. We have a regular bass player, so I sub for him. And, I'm getting pretty good with the harmonica. I'll take a number if I qualify.
