I would say I am a bassist who can play a bit of guitar, but I wouldn't rate myself as a guitarist really. It is useful for recording rhythm tracks and the odd acoustic jam though.

I have a number of basses, but my one and only guitar is this one (which I like a lot, but others may not). Not sure if this qualifies me.

That is amazing JT. But I have to ask why you would do that. I assume you are a lefty, but I also assumed that these days there were many more southpaw options than in the old days, when you guys were forced to adapt to right-handed instruments. Is that not true?

I started on guitar at age 10, took up bass at age 13. Until I was in my late '20s, I was equally good on both, and frankly had a pretty good rep on guitar.

Then I started having kids and had to make choices about what to do musically, when and with whom. Where I ended up is that my heart, musically and otherwise, is as a bass player. That and the fact that, on reflection, if there are 3 billion people on the planet Earth, something like 1 billion of them play guitar. I just lost interest in guitar.

I do keep doubling though. My band duties call for not only bass guitar but upright bass, mandolin and harmonica. But I haven't touched a guitar in maybe two years.

The one on the right was mine originally...just got it back from a nephew who (ahem) "borrowed" it for several years, moved away & allowed one of his untamed rugrats to beat the living hell out of it.

Cleaned up, restrung & set up, plays as nicely as ever.

The doublecut on the left is a Canadian Dillion. Say what you want about them, but this little monster absolutely smokes!

Entertaining the possibility of switching back to guitar since one of our guitar players gave notice in September. We'll see...

All right, finally got a couple of pics of my guitar. (Club founder has no pics, lolol :spit:) It's a Hanson Firenze T90 Trans Orange w/maple board. I love this guitar sooo much, the neck is the best guitar neck I have ever played. It is super-chunky maple goodness. Feels like it should cost $1200, cost me $500-something. Actually cost me $0, it was a gift. :bassist:

Count me in as well. I started on guitar, and still play on occasion, but have been in bands and gigged primarily as a bassist. My guitars I've collected over 18 years of playing, and currently outnumber my basses. The last guitar I acquired was a 30th birthday present from my family - a 2010 Fender American Standard Tele in Natural Ash. It's included in the below pic, which is the Fender portion of my collection. From left to right, my '94 MIM Standard Strat (First guitar I owned and learned on), 2001 Am. Series Strat, and my 2010 Fender American Standard Tele. Not pictured are my Heritage H140CM in Emerald Green, my '96 Gibson SG Standard, and my '98 Ibanez AR250 which I swapped in SD Phat Cat pickups.

I'll bite.

I like to play guitar when I'm by myself and/or writing stuff, although I will play guitar in front of people if there's not another guitarist present to screw me up. I like to play bass in bands because I'm just a rhythm kind of guy.
