Thank you. Yeah, the Spaceranger...the only other place I've seen one is the Austin Powers movies. I'm a total diva hotdog on stage, it's what my fanbase expects.

I am in your boat, man, I love love love Telecasters and Tele variants, they're my favorite guitars. You can do anything, any color, any accents, any woods, any pickup configs, to a Tele-style guitar and it'll still look and sound right. (You should show us some of yours!)

I think I own around seven or eight Teles? Here are a few in heavy rotation at the mo'

This is the short-lived Korean-made Blackout with Seymour Duncans, middle position is reverse polarity for that classic mid quack. These were made of balsa, but I don't think this one is, it's over 10 pounds. Got to be ash or mahogany. It is a two-knob Les Paul for all practical purposes, tone machine, very fast neck.

Similar to the Tele above, push-pull pot sends the PU's into single coil, versatile axe.

I am a folk,roots songwriter and guitar player as well as bass in bands. I own a early 70's gibson J45/50 an early 80's EPI and a 71 Harmony archtone. I play more guitar at home just about everyday.Bass is for practices and gigs.

I've played guitar a lot longer than bass; always thought I should take it up, but never got around to it until about five years ago.

I am also a brand-loyal person. Could you guess? However, I played the Parker in a local originals band for about 10 years. Things got busy in all our personal lives, and we just kind of dissolved. These days, it's bass at church, with the occasional guitar fill-in as needed, often with guitar-synth to add another texture or missing instrument.

Hello, I just found this thread and thought to post that I was originally a lefty guitar player who 2 years ago, picked up a bass and had to start playing. I mostly play bass now and have sold some guitars to fund gear but I own a few guitars and play through an old Kustom Tuck and Roll at home since selling my other amps. Being a lefty is hard when it comes to finding gear and I figured that playing guitar and bass is my biggest hobby and I should keep the guitars that work for me instead of hunting them down again down the road

This is a Chinese made cheap Ibanez AEL10 that plays well with a Fishman PU:

My other keeper guitar is a Schecter Solo 6 with EMG's that sounds awesome. I picked it up used locally for a good price.

I have no desire for a number, but I play both bass and guitar. I started on bass when I was 9 and picked up guitar when I was about 12. I am a gigging bass player, but I also have an extensive guitar collection and some cool old tube amps.

My tentative plan is to gig in my hard rock 3 piece band until I grow too old or simply tire of the every weekend gear schlepping, bar hopping and then find another old basstard to take over the bass duties while I slip over to guitar and my aging drummer and I relinquish ourselves to doing occasional, low key ( possibly semi acoustic) originals.

Cool man. Me too actually, my guitar skills aren't near my bass skills at all. I play mostly blues rock stuff, and although I have djenty rhythms in constant rotation in my head I don't have the equipment (and maybe skills either :p) to make them happen! lol.

I play mostly power blues myself, but these guys do a lot of southern rock.
Right up my alley..........

Kinda weird how the gig came about.
They had seen me doing bass at a local club, during one of the few times the BL let me off the leash.

The gtr player they had was in the hospital, and the replacement had bagged them, so I got a mid afternoon call "Hey man, can ya come up to our place and see how it fits."
They needed a rhythm guitar and some vocals.
Drummer had stood up for me for the rhythm stuff.
Showed up with my Crate Club 20 and black Squier Strat.
"So, whaddya got for stage work?"
"Ah, that's it dude, I'm a bass player......."
Those little Class A Crates are a lot bigger sounding than they look.
Turns out they needed a lead player, and lead singer.
I know a couple riffs, but I ain't no lead player.
(Lead singing is no prob, actually easier on guitar)
Surprisingly, they offered me the position.
Had a couple really good shows with 'em, and it turns out I can play lead.
(Surprised the hell outta the drummer)
Make all the right faces.........:D

Now I put in time every day to practice on guitar, besides bass and fretless.

I'll take number 31.

I've played guitar since 1976 and bass since 1979.

I PLAY bass. But I play AT guitar. Having made that confession, I do a lot of writing on either my acoustic 12-string or on keys. I wouldn't think of myself as someone I'd hire as a guitarist, because my lead skills are fairly minimal. But at the folk festival that I go to every summer I was sort of compelled to take a solo this summer and had three different guys come up afterward and say some variation of "I thought you said you weren't a lead player." It was a nice ego stroke.

My bass stable is currently:
Lakland 55-02d five string
Fender Jazz fretted four string
Fender Jazz fretless four string
Spector NS2a fretted four string
NS Design WAV4 electric upright
SWR Redhead and Triad

For guitar I have:
Fender Strat - an '88 or so MIJ Standard that I've put in Graph Tech saddles and nut, locking tuners, Lace Sensor Red-Silver-Blue set and custom switching
Fender Tele - 2011-ish MIM Standard with Callaham bridge plate and brass saddles, reversed switchplate, locking tuners, blend circuit, and Duncan P'ups in the Brent Mason configuration
Epiphone Dot - unknown year, The previous owner had some cosmetic surgery done on the headstock to make it pass for a Gibson ES335 from about the front row, so he didn't have to risk his real ES335 on bar gigs. I put in Duncan Triple Shots and P-Rails
Taylor 355ce 12-string and 114ce six string electric acoustics
And a Hamer that I will probably let go.
My guitar amps are a Bedrock BC50 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

My keyboard is a Alesis QS8 that I think I bought from someone here on TB. But I don't remember for sure. It might have been someone on TheGearPage.

The Strat has the best neck. But I've been playing the Tele way more than anything else this year.

I had designed a hypothetical ultimate Tele in my head long ago. But since the only ones Fender offered in that finish were their most expensive guitars (the AVRI52 and the Hot Rod 52) I didn't expect to ever get the opportunity. So there was no reason for restraint. Then they made a special run for GC and every store got one butterscotch blonde Tele with the traditional black pickguard, vintage style hardware and a reversed switchplate...FOR $500! And I had a $100 off coupon.

Suddenly it wasn't hypothetical anymore. So I bought the one my store got less than a half hour after it hit the floor. Then I immediately started ordering upgrades for parts. Look up "Pats Guitars VooDoo Lounge Triple VooDoo Tele" and swap the humbucker for a mini-humbucker and the middle p'up for a cool rails for strat. That's what I ended up making out of it. I play that guitar daily.

I have a habit of buying the instrument that I can afford then slowly modifying it until it's finally what I wanted in the first place.

Count me in. I pretty much only gig as a bassist now, but occasionally my band mates will let me play guitar if there is another bass player around. Started off playing guitar in bands before switching over to bass - but that was many moons ago. I play a Gibson LP Traditional in Desert Burst through a modded Fender Blues Deluxe. I have a Squier Strat Anniversary that plays like a dream but cheap electronics and HW keep it in its gig bag for the most part. I'll either upgrade the components or trade up to a Fender USA at some point. Have an Epiphone LP 1959 that I'll likely sell soon. It is a great guitar for the money, but my Gibson gets all the playing time now. I'd like to get a Gretsch resonator, so may trade the Epi for that. Going through a divorce right now, which is brutally hard and music is one of the things that helps me stay centered. I'll be in an apt, so would like an acoustic instrument. The Gretsch is awesome for that. I don't like playing bass in my bedroom, but love playing bass live. Solo, I prefer guitar.

I played guitar for 22 years before making the move to bass. I stopped playing guitar for the past 5 or so years, but I just acquired a new Tele and it's getting some attention. Mostly, I figure out the guitar parts to bass songs I'm trying to master. It helps with understanding harmony and arrangements. I don't think bass will ever be my number two instrument, I love it much more than guitar now.

I don't need a number.
