the talkbass bass

If you look closely at that right hand, you’ll notice the fourth strings wraps around the thumb in an unnatural way. I think that right hand might be photshopped onto the bass– maybe from another stock image of another bass. This makes me believe that the interpretation of those pickups as PJs is irrelevant . What looks like a PJ pickup formation may just be residue from the image of the hand placed onto the image of the bass. Even if that is not the case, compressed digital images are notorious for their interpolation; because of this, where the neck appears to join the body and the type of pickups are virtually impossible to distinguish accurately. Until someone who was at the photo shoot speaks up, no definitive answer can be made with regard to what type of bass appears in this picture.

That said, I think the Fender Prodigy is a good guess.

I don't see it either. Compare where the upper horn connects with the body... It's at the 15th fret, not the 17th, for one, and also, it's not beveled like the Yamaha.

i don't know.i don't believe it's a yamaha but i really can't count the frets.i mean, u can't...it's imposible, so low resolution it could be 20, 21 or 22 without noticing it.

this one looks kind of similar and it's the easiLink Removedest guess ( for me.... )

lol rather thaqn skip to this 5th page from the get go i read EVERY post hoping to get an answer.... ahh i gotta know. i'm subbing just for the answer. I SHOULD be gettin ready for work but my curiosity has me rechecking hre.

(also mystery talkbass bass member .....#3 i think....)

I think his right thumb is just behind the string. No conspiracy here, guys.

Are you suggesting that this image has not been edited or compressed? Trust me, it has. Hold a straight edge against the fourth string on the image of the bass, and you will notice that the string shift down when it is over the thumb; that suggests image editing (or in the very least digital interpolation); and that suggests that trying to identify the bass in this image accurately by simply reading the image is impossible. This thing is bigger than JFK – perhaps Oliver Stone will make a movie about the TalkBass bass.

Looks more like his bad technique - pressing the string down with his right thumb.

I can't believe you guys can't tell. It's obviously a blue 5 string Ritter with Q-Tuners and LEDs in the fretboard. It also has a schaller bridge and that's obviously Victor Wooten playing it, or else it could be Jaco Pastorius. I am less sure of the player... maybe I should start a poll.

:hiding:

The only thing you forgot to mention, it's the most obvious: it's a fretless fanned fret!!!!:D:D:D:.

So, in all confidence, we can rule out the Höfner possibility :hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding::hiding:
