Double Bass The Talkbasses v.2 (bass eye candy collection)

Here are my basses. A 1935 King, and 1936 American Standard.

May I introduce to you : Primus de Quatuor, my new bass built by Heiner Windelband in Germany. 
Built with local walnut for back and sides and a new back bracing system made of poplar, which works (not only for my ears) really excellent.
Martin Wind took the instrument to a little tour through Northern Germany and was really enthusiastic about the bass and named it(?) an awesome instrument although it is still really young
And he is right with his appraisal I'm also deeply impressed not only by the beauty (for my eyes), but also by the sound, the dynamics and fast response, Primus is already able to create... I hope, that the pictures are "eye candy enough", even though they are not really brilliant and a little bit dark

I have been away from DB for several years. I broke down and found a nice localish vintage workhorse to get me back in the game. 1954 M1B with no repairs or damage other than the bottom edge chips and some bow stabs.
Not nearly as beautiful as some of the basses in this thread but these are my two.
In back is a beat up '53 Kay C-1. It was a Royal Oaks, MI public school instrument that I picked up for $750. I had to glue some seams, but other than that, not much else was wrong with it. It also (surprisingly) has never had the neck broken. I use a modified Underwood to amplify it, but the acoustic tone is fantastic; especially with Spiros.
The one in front is my '03 King Doublebass Roadking. It was the 14th one Jason Burns made under that label and originally was gloss black with metallic red flames pinstriped in gold; complete with a chrome tailpiece. As my gigs started to trend towards country, I decided to refinish it. That turned out to be a nightmare. Under the layer of paint was a layer of automotive primer that was almost impossible to remove. So I improvised and used polyurethane in walnut and a dollar store hair comb to simulate wood grain. I also replaced the chrome with an ebony tailpiece, along with threading both end pins to accept the skateboard wheel. Not a perfect job, but from 5' away in a dark club it doesn't look bad. I use a single Shadow bridge element for this one, but it's almost acoustically dead (which is great for loud amplified gigs).
