Positively dazzling! How does it sound?

I want to make the joke and say "bright" though that's not really true. Actually sounds pretty close to my old ply Kay (as best I remember as I no longer have it). No one is going to mistake it for a high quality carved bass but it is still very usable and has a more solid tone than might be expected especially in an amplified context and with the string height kept low -- I do find that it starts to take on some of the 'tin can' tone with the strings set higher - though not as much as one might expect. The neck is very, very nice -- to my subjective taste anyway.
 
Wonderful, fun thing to do for a bass like that. Looks like something out of a modern art gallery. The stool matches perfectly.

Thank you, Paul. Honored to have your 'blessing'. I agree about the art gallery look - and think the wire tailpiece really accents that minimalist aesthetic. The stool was meant to be; found it cheap at a flea market last week and the height is perfect to boot.
