Psychoscout, maybe my monitor is playing tricks on me, but is your fingerboard really thin and shallow?

well, she's in a stand (tilted) so it could be perspective, but the fingerboard will definitely need to be replaced in time anyway, around the playing area there's actually a piece that somewhere during time broke off, but for now she plays great the way she is
ps: there's a crack in the back, but that one has been mended properly... there's one in the front that still needs fixing, so she'll have to be opened up, and then all the patchwork can be redone properly...
She's developing still, seems she hasn't been played for quite a while as the sound just keeps getting better. Yesterday evening I lended my bass to the Sweet Hollywaiians and the bassplayer just loved her (they already had another bass on stage as they did the soundcheck earlier than planned, but the bassist wanted to give my bass a try as well. As of the first two notes they all agreed to swap basses (the guy organising the concert yelled from the other side of the place: "yes, that's the kind of sound we want!"). After the concert I heard a lot of very very positive things about the bass (while they didn't know it was mine )
It's great if other people like your bass as well, but the best part is still playing the baby yourself

in the meantime i know she's german and she's from 1898 (August Kessler jr.)

i have to beg to differ pscout...that is a him if i ever saw one. and isn't nice to know he won't let you down when you lean on him..through thick and thin.

Wow... gorgeous Lott Jr. What perfection, now get it the hell away from that radiator!
It was only next to the radiator whilst it's photo was taken - and the radiator wasn't even on! I'm pretty careful about temperature and humidity. I've been using a dampit when the humidity is low - it seems to help the sound as well.
Monte can only answer your question but below is a link to our old friend Mike Pecanic who used to do that stuff big time.

Yeah, I'm still around but been really busy, retiring in two weeks, trying to figure out 403b rollovers, settling my mom's estate (after 1 1/2 of lawyers...), etc. Thanks for the mention though...
