It's actually a 218. I'm not that tiny.

In my experience all the best bass players are around 5"6-5"9, so I kinda feel awkward being 6"0 and still growing. So I was just wondering how tall are you guys? And is there something to my theory?

I don't think there is anything to your theory, however since 6 feet is the average height you have just created a bell curve and can pretty much see that trend by the results of your poll. The results of your poll would be much more accurate if they revolved around hours of practice vs. height of the player. Cheers.

My kid is now 6' 6" and 210lbs. His 17th birthday is in two days.

I think he's still growing, 'cause it's all legs.

Proportionally, a jazz bass on him looks like a stratocaster on a regular guy.

Most people he plays with are a LOT shorter, so it looks kind of funny.

Guess the mean of the TB's users height so far is about 180.1cm (roughly 5'11"), and the variance is 8.33cm (I think I screwed the calculations with this last one, but oh well )

Stanley Clarke is 6-3 or 6-4, with proportionally large hands and long arms. It is commonly noted that his physical size helps give him extra command over his instruments; he makes his short scale bass guitars look like ukeleles, and DB's look like cellos. Therefore, I think he would say no to your theory, and I think you have nothing to worry about as regards your height.

The poll is a nice bell curve with an anomaly at 5'11". Which happens to be my height.

I wonder if some of the 5'11" guys are rounding up to 6'
