I'd like to see *anyone* beat the Lakers...even the Thuggets. Don't think it has a chance to happen until the finals, though.

yep. i think the cavs have the best (only) shot at stopping the lake show, and even then i think the lakers are too deep to be beat in a 7 game series.
Even though Mutumbo is gone ( 
) I think the Rockets are doing well thus far at 2-1. The Rockets 4th quarter intensity is what bothers me - all season we can win the first three quarters, only to lose 10+ point leads in the 4th. We almost lost the other day like that.

Well my Pistons season is over, no surprises there. First a couple of comments about the team and the season. For all of the Nay-sayers about the Billups trade, the Pistons would not have won this series with Billups or without him. And that was the crux of the problem, wether or not the trade works will depend on how the cap money gets spent in the next two seasons. It was a good run, and a team that never fit the NBA's marketing program because they never had that marketable NBA star and consequently never got a good whistle in a series, still went to six conference finals, two NBA finals, and won one title. No other team during their run went to the NBA finals two years in a row, not even the Spurs.
As far as the "king" and the Cavs, I predict they will win the title this year. It's the script the NBA wants. No player in the history of the league including MJ gets a better whistle then Lebron got this season. Less then two fouls a game, and he never had five fouls in a game!
Now, this guy is not a perimeter player and he was one of the most physical players in the league on both offense and defense. In this series he had more trips to the foul line then the entire Pistons team. I'm not claiming, he isn't a great player or that the Pistons would have won had they gotten the same whistle. Just that a player with immense physical skills and talents also gets the benefit of contact that his opponents don't get. This is what I hate about the NBA. It's a shame this league is about the marketing instead of the game, it really is a great game.

if anything, and like every season before, the officiating continually SUCKS.
i.e. see any of tonight's games: rondo decking miller, ray allen's 2nd foul-out in 70 playoff games, howard elbowing damenbert, etc. etc. etc. and is it just me, or does billups not get called for anything this playoffs?
Great second round action so far. The Celts got their butts kicked by a team that played smarter. Even though I'm a fan of the green, I'm glad they didn't complete that comeback - they need to learn to play better the *whole* game and not rely on the "Kobe rally and home whistle", which I abhor. The Celts have got to find a way to stop Lewis and Turkoglu, and Rondo and Ray Allen have to shoot better.
The Rockets showed real heart last night. Yao was brilliant. I don't know that I've seen a player that big and slow play within his limitations to maximize his potential to the degree that he has before. He understands his game, has offensive skills, and can shoot the hell out of some free throws. Brooks played a great game as well. Houston in an intriguing team. I don't know if they can beat LA in a series, but they've shown a lot this year. It's good to see a Lakers rally fall short - they way they tend to half*** things up until late in the game and then turn on the talent fountain and stage a heroic comeback makes me sick.

I gave up on the NBA a few years ago, but Houston was my team back in the day. I just heard they won last night in LA. I am happy to hear that.
Maybe this is the year Charles, Hakeem, and Clyde finally win one all together.

To each his own. That Lakers team, if they were really playing hard, should beat most teams by 40 every night. But instead, they cruise and then turn it on at the end, which turns me off. I like the blue collar players like Scola, Kendrick Perkins, Shane Battier, Tayshaun Prince, Robert Parish, etc. BTW, Derek Fisher and Ariza (sp) are the two Lakers that I really like in this way - they both hustle their ***es off. Kobe, on the other hand plays like that when he wants to, and when he does, he's one of the greatest ever. The rest of the time he either disappears, or drives into the lane, shouts, "HEY!
", and falls down....then shoots free throws.
