The TB NBA Playoff thread

I gave up on the NBA a few years ago, but Houston was my team back in the day. I just heard they won last night in LA. I am happy to hear that.

Maybe this is the year Charles, Hakeem, and Clyde finally win one all together.

-Mike

Clyde is the Rockets color commentator these days (along with fellow ex-Rocket Matt Bullard) and you shoulda heard him during the Rockets-Blazers series...dude couldn't figure out which team he wanted to root for. I don't blame him either way.

Magic FTW.

Magic can't get no love man.

I love the Magic :D I just don't think its their time. Maybe next year when Jameer comes back, especially if they can get a more physical presence at the 4 and move Rashard back to his natural position at the 3. Turk is gonna kill this team with his barrage of 28-foot 3s. They might beat Boston without KG, but they wouldn't get past a healthy Boston and they won't get past Cleveland.

Lots of people blame it on Dwight, but tome the problem is with the shooters (Lewis, Turk, etc.). The Magic get a big lead, they stop playing sound defense, and then they just start chucking up 3s, which gives the other team lots of fast break opportunities. They get away from doing the things that got them a big lead in the first place. I still think they are missing Jameer's leadership, but if they can learn how to close a team out they might be OK. I still think Cleveland will take them in the Eastern Finals, but I will be cheering for them to win.

I agree, Turk needs to lay off the 3's and keep it in the damn paint.

Houston was all guts and glory last night. The Lakers displayed everything I hate about the Lakers except the "turn it on at the last minute and win with Kobe shooting 25 free throws" part. Kobe didn't get to the line because he mailed the game in. I loved watching the blue collar boys pushing the talented "gonna win the title" demigods all over the floor. Brooks was brilliant.... except for the bowtie, but he earned that.

Boston played a crappy first quarter, but played well the rest of the game. For once I agree with Charles "Mumbledore" Barkley - without KG, Orlando has more talent, but the Celts showed more heart. Classic game, and how about the big baby growing up? The Celts' front line is ridiculously undermanned (Mikki Mouse is playing so badly he doesn't even count - and Scalabrine is the only big guy left on the bench :hmm:), but they fight on every play.

The Mavs got ripped off big time. The Thuggets were probably going to win the series anyway, but to let them steal a game like that is ridiculous. As for the Cavs, it will be interesting to see how they react when they get hit in the mouth. They haven't been tested yet, but are firing on all cylinders so far.

As you can see by my avatar I'm a Celtics fan....love em, but really thought they were going down 3-1 last night.

What a great shop by Big Baby, this guy has improved sooo much over the last year!

I gotta believe they'd win again if they were full strength with KG and Powe as all the guys have improved their games....well, Davis & Rondo anyway.

Actually I don't cringe when Scalabrine comes in anymore, he's gotten smarter about how to stay in the game and make a difference.

Now that the momentum has shifted, I think they can beat the Magic.....but I can't see them getting by Cleveland.....oh how I hate sideshow Bob!

You mean like this??

Love the Sideshow Bob shots. great stuff.:D

My other beef with Cleveland is as good as Lebron is, nobody gets better luv from the the league. Lebron is a very physical player who had less fouls per game (under 2) this season then even MJ in his best years.:rollno: He did not have five fouls called on him one game this year.:eyebrow: The league wants the King to have a crown for marketing purposes and I don't see anyone stopping Cleveland.

Orlando will not win until they get another big man who can rebound and shot block. Turkalo and Lewis are threes and both good ones, but that team doesn't have a legit four and won't be a serious title contender until they do. They also live by the three, unfortunately, they die by the three too..........

LA has a similar problem, Gasol is a three in a fours body, kinda of a poor mans Dirk Nowitzki. He's a great numbers player, but not necessarily a dirty worker down low. And Odom doesn't seem to STILL? have a spot on the floor. I suspect LA may be bridesmaids again IF they get by Denver.

Denver impresses me the most of anyone in the west, I didn't know Nene was back and healthy. They are the real deal IF they can find some D to slow down Kolbe. They may make it to the finals. But no one is beating Cleveland and their anointed this year. Which is why I hate watching the NBA sometimes.:hmm:
