The Temptation is Killing Me!!!

You're asking TB'ers to convince you to NOT try out a bass?

If you don't try that bass, on your deathbed it may be the biggest regret of your life....never knowing if it was "The One". You may torture yourself by not knowing all the rest of the days of your life. Wait, you wanted us to talk you OUT of trying it?!?!?!?!?! Ok, that bass probably sucks.
I regret not buying a bass that I was gassing over years ago. I remember thinking at the time, that If I bought that candy apple beauty, I would've named it Rosebud.

Well, I checked it out. It’s a mess. Horribly setup. Dead, dead strings. The action was pretty high and the G String Saddle was as low as it can go. It’d probably need a shim. Anyway, if you’re looking for a cosmetically sweet Roscoe LG3005 at a great price, it’s there. I’m gonna pass. No deathbed regrets here.

Probably needs a shim? Thats skipping a few steps. Probably just needs a basic setup. If truss is operational that is.

Just an overall update here….

I did indeed checkout the bass. It’s an older Roscoe LG 3005. It was a mess and I wasn’t confident that I could get setup to my liking, so I wasn’t ready to drop that much on it. It looked great though. It just wasn’t for me. Thanks for the support!! I definitely did the right thing by trying it out.

Seeing that the G String saddle was at its lowest possible point, I was skeptical of lowering the action enough with just a truss rod tweak. I may have been able to? Not sure.

Depends on the price and return policy. If you can return it in a week for full refund (not store credit) maybe it just needs a good setup.
I checked out a '92 Pedulla Thunderbass back in 2002. I found myself asking "What's the big deal with these?" - the action was way high, very uncomfortable to play. It felt like a cheap abused beginner bass. Price and return policy was good enough though so home it came. After a good truss adjust, bridge adjust, new strings, cleanup it turned into a real gem. Perfect and I played it consistently for years.
I wound up selling it in 2016 however. Not because I wasn't happy, just wanted to finance more G.A.S.
