It's a shoreline gold Fender Roscoe Beck V and Blackie Lawless and King Diamond are watching "over the shoulder" of my Quatra Valve and 1153 cab :o .

The studio where the picture is taken is owned by a WASP fan and is full of pictures with Blackie and the boys along with pics and posters of various trash/speed/death metal bands. I myself play in a blues band at the moment and the Quatra serves me well in that setting. On the GAS list is a TE 2103 cab (2x10) or perhaps another 1153.

Cheers,
Dronnba

Can any of the Trace techies tell me off hand if my AH-250 7-band will handle a 2ohm load?? I have a lead on a Bag End 2x10 cab for a great price. I believe its a 2ohm cab. I'm at work and cant look at my amp. I currently run 2 Genzbenz 8ohm cabs. 2x10, and a 15.

Could I swap out the 2x10 I have now for the Bag End, or am I going to need a new amp or power amp to run it? I'm confused.

Sorry man, 4 ohm min.

Did Bag End make a 2 ohm 210? I checked their site and they only list 4 or 8 ohm cabs. If its the "D" series cab its 4 ohm and you would either have to run it by itself or add an external power amp to run it. If its the "Q" series you can just use it in place of one of the GB cabs.

Thanks Kelly. A good question...I'm not sure what series it is. A friend of a friend is selling it, I told him I want it. He thought it was a 2 ohm cab. I better find out which one it is. I've been wanting BE's for quite some time now... :D

As mentioned in the past few posts...I use a TE 250 7-band. I've been using Genzbenz cabs, a 2x10 and a 15. I like them, but I'm sick of carrying them around. I played 2 shows this weekend, and have a bunch of out-of-state shows coming up in May. I'm thinking about a different cab config, that would be smaller, lighter and just as loud. I need to be heard over 2 boogie half-stacks, and a loud drummer.

I'm thinking about buying that Bag End 2x10, but its a 4 ohm cab. As great as it sounds, I don't think its enough for me. I'd rather not get a power amp, cause its more heavy gear to lug around.

Any suggestions?

I cant help ya, I use a TE 215 cab! :p

I have the same head but the gp7sm250...there is no question it is very loud. But I play w/ two guitarists that aren't happy unless everones ears are bleeding. The Bagends sound so good with the Trace...I'm re-thinking my whole rig now.

Hey 43%,

I just took delivery of a V300H from British. My main amp is a V6 and I was looking for a back-up/small gig amp. Having the same preamp in both amps was a big plus for me.

First, compared to the V6 it's small and light! Same green rat fur cover. Appears to be well put together. I just love that v-type preamp. I really don't use much eq. Just a little boost and/or cut depending on the room.

At low volumes, it sounds almost identical to the V6. But this is just a preliminary report. I plan on doing an extensive comparison -- when I get a couple of minutes!!! I'm taking it to rehearsal this weekend, so I hope to do a report next week.

My initial impression is that there are many ignorant fool bass players not grabbing these from British while they have the chance. But that's just my opinion, of course!

I run 2 8ohm genzbenz cabs, a 210 & 15...and its crazy loud. I have no problem w/ volume or cutting through. However, I want to upgrade to bagend cabs, but the used one i'm looking at is 4ohms and can I only run it by itself...thats why i'm considering upgrading my head to the v-type 300h.

Mr. bonex- Am i correct the 300h is swithable to accomodate 4 or 8ohm cabs? Would It be able to run two cabs if one is 4ohms?

The amp is solid state, so there is no impedance switch. The amp simply accomodates whatever resistance it "sees."

It is spec'd at 280 watts into 4 ohms. So, it would probably be somewhere around 150 - 200 watts into 8 ohms. The literature/websites that I have seen don't specify the 8 ohm wattage. So I'm just guessing. Most solid state amps deliver somewhat more than half at the higher impedance.
