Hi all. A little late to this thread but here goes. I started using Trace gear
in the mid 80's. It was the only thing I could find that could handle the lowest register of my 5 & 6 string basses and Chapman stick. The stock Trace bass cabs couldn't do the lowest notes like I wanted so the guy at the store turned me onto an EPAS cab they had just got in. It's an 1818X with a bullet tweeter added. Driving that with an AH350 was amazing.
Really, really heavy, but amazing. At the same time my drummer grabbed the EPAS 400 stereo head, thinking he was going into electronic drums (this was the 80's). He never did and the amp was put in the basement. I sold the cab, yeah I'm an idiot. The AH350 was lost in a fire.
20ish years later ....
I've gone to using a GP11 Mk.V with all the mods I could think of done to it. That drives a Bryston 4B into either/and/or an Acme Low B2 & 15 Bag End. My drummer buddy is moving North, calls me and tells me he has some stuff for me. A quick drive and there he is with the EPAS head and a pair of Klipsch KP-301 speakers. Puts 'em in my van and says keep 'em! The EPAS is new. Never even plugged in. Still in the box!
Yeah, it sounds killer.
Maybe one day soon I'll figure out how to post pics
