It's a Sadowsky preamp w/VTC.
I was also puzzled because I didn't remember the Sad pre I had looking like that, but then I remembered I had never actually opened up the control cavity of the bass it was installed in.

I've been using a battery box because it's been getting tight inside most of the control cavities and it helps keep it neater.Hey.....I didn't know my bass was going to have a battery compartment
