Here's my newest personal bass and, yes, it's blue. :D

Don't get my wrong, I love blue basses...but I do like seeing different colors. :D

That IS a gorgeous bass too.

I'm back in the club! I just picked this one up at the recent NYC GTG. I originally wanted this one but was too slow to pull the trigger, however it made its way back to Nino, and then to me.

(It's #039... the P4 on the right)

This means that these two basses are almost back together again as I have #037 on the left in the picture.
We should let them have a play date :D

I won't get to even plug this baby in until maybe tomorrow,
WHAT!!!!! Aren't you feeling a little ill and need to go home early? ;)

one thing that came out exactly the way I wanted was the color....it's perfect:D
AWESOME!!!! That's a huge weight that's been lifted off of my shoulders.

I was 300 miles from home when mine arrived today. That was literally THE longest 300 miles I've ever driven.:)

But, I'm home now, and it's sitting in my lap as I type this.

So far, all I can say is "Wow"!!!!!:D

EDIT:

:hmm:

OK, I've been trying now for quite a while to find something I don't like about it.

And I'm not having any luck.

:smug:;)

Well, I haven't had it long enough to do a real review by any means, but I can give my first impressions on it now (my fingers are sore, had to put it away for the night).

First off, it's light. Very light. I haven't weighed it, but I'd be surprised if it weighs 9 lbs. I was worried at first that there may be some neck dive issues with it when using a strap, but there is not a hint of it. Where I put it is where it stays--perfect balance.

In the looks department, I can honestly say that the pics that Nino sent me of it don't do justice to how great it looks in person. The wenge neck and board have some really cool grain patterns, and the redwood top is even more beautiful in person, and has some depth to it that you can't see in the pics.

Fit and finish is flawless. I can't find anything---not one thing--to fault it on. I've owned a few "higher end" basses (see my previously owned gear), and I honestly would rank this right along with the Roscoes, Modulus', F Basses, Mike Lulls, etc, that I've owned. The attention to detail in Nino's work, as others have mentioned too, becomes very evident in areas like the control cavity. I've owned basses that I've paid a LOT more for that weren't done this neatly.

The playability/feel of the bass is wonderful. I've always liked the feel of wenge necks, and this one definitely doesn't disappoint. The neck has a quite thin profile, and is what I personally would call a "fast" neck. Definitely not a chunky baseball bat neck at all. Very comfortable---which is a HUGE deal to me. And it has 19mm spacing at the bridge. Gotta love that!! I did have to lower the action a tiny bit, but that was just a matter of personal preference, and it could go even lower than what I have it set at now without problems, I think.

As to the sound, well, I'm completely useless at describing tones. All I will say is that if had sounded half as good (to me) as it does, I'd have been happy. And I haven't had it nearly long enough to dive into what it can really do, tone-wise, so I'll have to post more on that at a later date.
