The Valenti Megathread (Mk. II)

Had a few minutes this morning to set the string height up on my new bass and so far so good:D, still deciding if I am going to take the Sadowsky strings off or just wear them out before I put a set of Elixir strings on it :hmm:, I am so used to playing coated strings that these feel wierd too me.
The bass plays great but I won't get a chance to play it through one of my real bass rigs until next weekend, for now I have it kicking through my mega powerfull 15w Fender practice amp . Next weekend it will get used in three different venues from small to large club to a outdoor festival, plus it will be played through my Eden WT1205 & D610xlt :hyper:

A few more pic's of a bass that is not blue :hiding:

You have to love that color combo of green and pearliod , very nice !

This means that these two basses are almost back together again as I have #037 on the left in the picture.
We should let them have a play date :D

Any time man! You're probably only 20 mins from me.

BTW - I went down to see The Senders at the Ocean Mist on Sunday... don't you know those guys or something?

I am usually around during the week at night if you ever want to try out basses :hyper:

I know Dan (guitar player and owner of Dan's music in Warwick, ask Dan about our Kayaking adventure!) and Paul the bass player of the Senders. I buy all my G&L basses from Dan :)

If you are around this weekend my band and my new bass are playing:
Friday @ Oakie's in Narr.
Saturday @ Rusty's in Middletown
Sunday afternoon @ Kings Park, Newport.

Very nice.
I now have Valenti #79.
Which is a 4-string version of this.
The wenge neck on my bass is unreal.

The neck on mine is one of, if not the, most comfortable, best feeling necks I have ever played. Love it.

Now that I've had some more time with mine, I seriously am unable to find anything I am not 100% satisfied with. Hell, this one even got the wife's approval in the looks department (which very few basses ever get:hmm:).

All I was able to get so far was a cell phone pic but I should have better ones by the end of the weekend as I still have two more shows to play, anyway......
A quick little review of the new toy :)

Last night was the first time I was able to use the new bass with a real bass rig and it did not let me down:hyper:
The bass playes and sounds excellent, I used it in active mode running both pickups and the VTC dialed all the way up. I had just a slight boost on the bass & treble control and left all of the EQ dials on the Eden WT1205 flat.
I had a beautifull sound coming from my bass rig and I was actually playing at a club that had a house PA and sound tech for a change, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed not hauling in my own system and getting a chance to actually relax at a gig and just play! The soundtech took the DI from the WT1205 and kept all the channel strip EQ's flat on the FOH desk and just set the gain level and let it rip, he instantly talked back through my monitor and said that the bass sounded fantastic :D.
The bass is very well balanced with NO neck dive issues at all and it seems very light, I have not had a chance to weigh it yet but I will soon because I am curious too see what it is.
I do have one thing that I am not fond of on the bass however and it really has nothing to do with the bass itself but the Sadowsky strings that came through on it are just not for me:hmm:. Don't get me wrong, the strings sound great and have a real nice punch to them but I am so used to playing Elixir strings that my fingers can't get used to the feel of the Sadowsky strings, my fingers actually felt like they where getting stuck on the strings because they are very coarse feeling.
Needless to say I will be changing those out after this weekends shows.
The bass really plays like a dream and sounds amazing, and the color on stage stands out perfect. I can't wait for tonights show!!!

I'm actually finding that I really like the Sadowsky strings(never tried them until now), but then I usually use DR Highbeams. I can definitely see that if you are used to Elixirs, the Sadowsky strings might feel a bit "sticky".

I used to use Elixirs religiously until I found that SS strings sound much brighter, which to me is a better sound for me, IMO of course. Ever since I got a set of Sadowsky strings I've been hooked. I'm glad Nino puts them on his basses, but of course everyone can't like the same thing or there would only be one company out there making strings.

I just used mine in a full-band setting for the first time tonight, and it really shined there. It sat in the mix perfectly, while still cutting through enough for every note to be heard.

Is it out of line that I'm already thinking of contacting Nino about a second one??:)

Man, once I have the money, forget Warwick or Fender or Ernie Ball, I'm getting a Valenti! Man, every single bass I've seen by Nino looks AMAZING! I'm already thinking about what I want, but I'm looking at least a year in the future... Well, at least I can look forward to good dreams for a year.
