I'm thinking about something simple, a P5 (maybe PJ5), 35" neck, maple board, Nordy PU's, Nord or Audere preamp.

The bass player for the Motet we were talking about a few months back, that's exactly the tone I'm after in a P5...

I just ordered another Nord preamp to go in that Silver PJ5 that used to be Andy's.
I looove the one in that black GeddyVee5...shoudl be here an installed in a couple weeks.

Some folks like the Audere: I sure didn't. The Aguilar OBP3 in the PJ is alright, but the Nord sounds much more natural, and has a more usable range of adjustment, at least for me and my needs.

That's good to know, Chef. You getting the Nord on a plate or installing on the existing plate.

You have what would seem to be at least 2 awesome basses.

Greetings. For the record, I acquired Valenti #062 from Bongomania. It is my first Valenti bass. I like it.

#062's light weight, tonewoods, minimalist configuration, and Nordstrand stacked P pickup were the strong selling points for me. Bolstered by your enthusiastic comments in this thread, they were enough to make me take the leap. I thank you for that.

Well Nino, I played #51 on a wind ensemble gig last weekend. I bet this is the first time you can say that one of your axes was used in a major metropolitan symphony environment. It sounded great, like it should - we did a couple Lyle Mays charts that were pretty creative, along with a lot of I-V stuff that wasn't. I'll post recordings, if they are any good. They were professionally done by the engineers at the Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas, so they should be.

Also, for anyone interested - I doubled this gig using my Ergo upright, and there was one tune with a bass feature where I used it. It worked our great, although there were upright purists (including the conductor, who is a close friend) who were not sold on it as an upright. I am going to post about that part of the experience on the Ergo forum.
