I've had this bass for a while. Built it with a control plate but with no pickguard and I liked it when it was completed but it has been looking a little "empty" due to the lack of a pickguard.

I wanted to give the bass a little more of a traditional look so I changed the black hardware to chrome, also. WHat do you guys think?

For my tastes, the black hardware fits *perfectly* with the blocked neck - I'd stick with that and perhaps add a Silver or Black Pearl pickguard to "tie the bass together", but I'll freely admit that I prefer more of a Modern than a Vintage sensibility in my basses. The chrome/tort look does put out a great Vintage look to the bass. Maybe leave both photos up and let a potential customer choose the final "look"?

Ultimately, I think the best thing to do would be to try and find a supplier of "Smoked Chrome" hardware that Ibanez uses: that would tie the look of the bass to the cat purfectly...

Unfortunately, this one isn't for sale. I brought it to the RI GTG and Bikeplate and Basswave showed interest in it.

The Block inlays on this particular neck came out a little sloppy and I wouldn't want anyone that sees it to think that's the quality of my basses.

Just got the chance to try my first Valenti bass, actually 3 Valenti basses.

Here in Madrid (Spain) we have this little store called Todo Bajos (All Basses), it is a 100% bass dedicated store that sells top brands from around the world: Elrick, Zon, Sadowsky, Warwick, Spector, Aguilar, Markbass, Ashdown... you name it.

What a nice surprise was to find that they have 3 Valenti on display: a Vintage J5, a Vintage 4 Marcur Miller, and a Vintage 5 Marcus Miller.

As a TB member since 2001 I remember when Nino started to make his first basses and all the great feedback he got from other TB members that had the chance to try his axes, and I have to say, what a wonderful sounding and looking basses.

The Marcus Miller 4 sounded huge, with many tone options from its Sadowsky VTC preamp, and it felt so right in my hands that I was tempted to bring it home. Too bad the price tag was out of my budget... but some day...

Now I can join the "Valenti fan club"... congrats Nino, keep on the nice work.
