Well, I certainly wish business was better, but I am very happy to say that's my order. I'm stoked to see how that bass turns out. It's been so long since I've had a P-Bass in my stable and a passive Valenti P5 strung with flats was at the top of my list from the beginning.

For those interested, I basically asked Nino for a P-bass version of Valenti #35:

And I'm honestly surprised that things have been as slow as they are. From the glowing reviews, very reasonable prices and the huge interest shown in the thread where I was trying to decide which look to go with, I'd think TBers would be falling over themselves to get a Valenti. Here's to hoping for a strong 2010 for Valenti basses.

Uh, the Lakland is staying in the case, the Valenti ( which already has some "road rage") will likely be the one I get famous with. :rolleyes:

Yeah, for Nino's sake, for me, I would actually HATE to be a rock star. Too late anyhow.

While I don't dig comparos, I prefer the 1.X lbs lighter bass, the smaller body, and actually better upper register access ( yes, once my biz is back to normal I still seek a 24 fret bass) of Valenti #067 over the Lakland JoBo. Comparing voices of the two is hard as the Lakkie I stuck Aeros in. I like Aeros. Yet, having two Valenti's now, #008, which went to Russel in TX, and now 067, I'd say the Nordie pups are almost as full, but have a freckle more articulation and upper end.

I'd almost swap the AEROS in , but they're Fender style lengths, and frankly, the greater articulation helps cut thru a bit more. Otherwise, its not noticeable in the mix.

The Valenti is more comfortable, by a bit, than a standard large bodied J like the Lakkie. It is the "new" BuffaloBass.

I have one with Sadowsky pickups and preamp;
and one with Nord pickups and preamp.

You can spec whatever you wnat, I bet. Ask him!

BTW, are Valenti basses exclusively fitted with Norstrand pups? I know that they are the brand most here seem to prefer. Just wondering if its exclusive, although I played that ebony-necked EMG one at last years NYC gtg./.

Mine has EMG 40J's and an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. He can stick pretty much anything you want in there as long as he can get it. I talked to him about one with Bartolinis but he said that they don't return his calls.

I wish the photographer could have got the headstock in the pic, but here is my Valenti "in action" so to speak from our preview Christmas service last week (preview meaning for staff and other production people/musicians at our church).

COOL MAN!

Yeah, not to eb a blaspheme, but while most like Nordy's, I dig the phatter sound of Aero1's, particularly passive. #067 will be a-sporting those soon. BTW, our guitar man, whose ear is quite good, also agreed that Aeros certainly dig thru the mix better than non-boosted Nordy's. Again, I'm totally passive, maybe that's why the Aero works better. Big output too.

I thought about going passive, but this is going to be a gigging bass so I could really use the active boost/cut features. If I were buying a bass to strictly record with I'd have gone passive for sure.

As far as Nordy's vs Aeros, I'm not familiar with either. My fav pickups on my JO5s are Fralins, but this is gonna be a whole new animal. :)

The only issue I've ever had was pluggin into some cobbled together direct system, live, where he had 50' foot of line. When dealing with noobs, the preamp was helpful to keep the signal alive. Otherwise, I always had it in passive mode.

I put AERO1 in my JO5 and my voice came right out. To each his own Tim, but I have NEVER heard as nice a low B as I do with the Aeros. They do claim they reach lower in HZ than any other. Must be why Fodera uses them. They are a bit phatter and slightly darker as compared to the Nordy's in their type 1 config. But, that's me, my voice.

I'm calling Hawaii today to order them up. I wish I had more dough, as #067 is also routed for a P5, and I would love to try an AERO P5.

Did a setup a few days ago on #067, and the neck adjustment settled in nice. Great player. Now to get my voice outta her.
