I traded #100 to Gruuv for #46. That 70's thing just was not my bag. Great bass, and a real looker, but sonically, just not my thang.

I do like "That 70's Show" though.

And: naw, that's not the whole family. I still have a few old G&L's and a few old Fenders; and a Reverend or two.

Hi Nino.

Glad to see you're still building, brother. I still fondly remember Inca Silver serial #006 I had for awhile a few years ago. Even then, yours was a rock-solid build with perfect setup, fast feel, and great tone.

How's business? If you care to share, I'm sure your fans would enjoy reading a recap of how things have gone, where you're at, and where you think it's going. Trials, triumphs, etc. With it being the end of a decade and mid-recession/depression, it'd be a fascinating and possibly educational read.

Maybe an audio interview if you don't have time to type. People could submit questions?

All the best to you in 2010.

p.s. - Please do not start making 6-strings, 'cuz that could cost me.

Tayste2000 has that bass in the UK. I think that's the last of 3 Valenti Basses he still owns.

Business is very slow.

Before the economy tanked, I built a few stock basses and brought them to various GTG's.... Well... the economy tanked and I have about 6 basses in stock staring at me telling me, "Play me.... play me!!!" LOL

I currently have one order for a nice P5. This was my 1st order in about 7-8 months and that was about a month ago.

In mid September, I started working back at Sadowsky Guitars building. In the past 3 months there, I've built about a dozen In Stock basses so my chops are better then they've ever been.

Nino: things will get better. Maybe they're getting better now...
FWIW: I've had four Valenti's now, and they've all been awesome.
I still have two, and don't see either leaving.

Nino, I hope that things get better for you. As you know, I own a small business as well and it has been brutal for the past 24 months. Hang in there, brother! You are way too good at what you do not to have your own name on the headstock. It is huge of Roger to "give you a home" for the time being.

Glad to hear you landed on your feet back at Sadowsky, I hope your own line picks up again soon, you've made some lovely basses, I gas hard everytime I check this thread. :)

We do what we must to survive. My biz was off 50% in revenues, but has started getting some traction back.

BUT, always a silver lining, even though its faint....

The weak economy allowed me to pick up #067 from Paul in CO.

:eek: Holy CARP!! This one is a TONE MONSTER thru the Mesa rig. Big deep throat jazz w/ shimmering highs. Its ef’n beautiful. Truly. It’s got my voice all over it! IT AINT LEAVING BUFFALO!!! They’re going to bury me with it!!!!!!

Seriously, prior owner may have had issue with it, but I cleaned her up, got that neck near straight and dressed her down with a fresh set of DR nickle los.

Uh, the Lakland is staying in the case, the Valenti ( which already has some "road rage") will likely be the one I get famous with. :rolleyes:

Yeah, for Nino's sake, for me, I would actually HATE to be a rock star. Too late anyhow.

While I don't dig comparos, I prefer the 1.X lbs lighter bass, the smaller body, and actually better upper register access ( yes, once my biz is back to normal I still seek a 24 fret bass) of Valenti #067 over the Lakland JoBo. Comparing voices of the two is hard as the Lakkie I stuck Aeros in. I like Aeros. Yet, having two Valenti's now, #008, which went to Russel in TX, and now 067, I'd say the Nordie pups are almost as full, but have a freckle more articulation and upper end.

I'd almost swap the AEROS in , but they're Fender style lengths, and frankly, the greater articulation helps cut thru a bit more. Otherwise, its not noticeable in the mix.

The Valenti is more comfortable, by a bit, than a standard large bodied J like the Lakkie. It is the "new" BuffaloBass.

Did Paul give you all the pickguards? There should be 2 BWB p/g for P and Reverse P. Here's the reverse P:

Nino, he did. I had a mexi PBass, as everyone said you should have one around. It was useless to me, but I have wondered what a P pup would sound like. Oddly, I dig the neck pup voice, adn not so much the bridge, which sounds like a gut less MM bass to me.

Yet, the the clip Paul posted up, the bass sounded quite awesome actually with the P/J config. So much so, I am almost willng to try it by sourcing up a Nordy P5.

Nino, I am not a pro, or even a rabid gear hog, what is meant by "reverse P", simply the arrangement of the split pair?

#067 also is ready for active electronics, but the few basses I;ve had them in, including Nino's #008, I'd pull the "pin" and run it au naturiel anyhow. Suppose if I was a studio bassist, it would be key. Yet, its nice to know 67 is ready for it.

My trick with a J is to tilt toward the neck pup a bit if I need vol for solo, which , depending on the pickups, usually boosts vol a few db.

BTW, Nino, I do prefer the look of the black p/g over the traditional one. Can you make one, or should I get with Jeanie's? The only J guard is the traditional red one.

Chef, I sold off the Reverend BH5 for this one. Your Rev was immaculate, adn I was already puckering about taking it out the house. For better or worse, 067 has some "rash" already, which mean, I'll play the tar outta her.

ALTHOUGH, I would be interested in having Nino make up a control plate with the switching option at some point.

The reverse P, the BEA coil is closer to the bridge for a tighter, more focused sound.
