I was thinking that the dual pole Fodera style pickups give a different , more "modern" sound than single pole J style.

I think most J pups are dual pole. I remember some older Fender/Suhr that were bigger, single poles.
There is a quite a variance between pickups though. eg:
The Alleva stuff is very organic and old school.
Sadowsky single coils are very raw and grindy.
Sadowsky hum canceling are very broad spectrum and hi-fi
The Barts I used to have were very warm and mellow
etc, etc...

Hey Nino, reckon you could let us in on a little trade secret? I'm wondering how you go about shaping the nut while it's in the slot? Or do you just mark it, take it out, and do it in a vice?

The nut doesn't get shaped while in the neck, only slotted. I get a rough shape on the sanding belt and then do the rest by hand.

is it going to be single pick up? or are the pick ups placed that back?... or maybe the hole is for the bridge or 2nd pick up?
I love quilted top basses.. especially red quilted top basses.
I've never seen a white quilted top but I guess that would be cool to see as well.

Oh man oh man oh man!!! I've never seen one of your basses with that pickup spacing. You have to tell me how it sounds. I'm getting Valenti GAS all over again!
I have decided to sell my Matt Pulcinella 6 or trade it .... any Valentis for trade for my MP Level 6?. I am in love with Nino's work

When I get a chance, I'll take a quick video. The neck pickup is in, more or less, a P postilion and the neck is in the standard J position.
