The Valenti Megathread Part III

as you noted, Nino would probably know;)
It does look close to the Sadowsky Modern-which he would probably also know;)

It also looks close to a G&L L2500, which is "more or less P+70's J."

I would think so.
I think I'd prefer tort on yours, but I'm pretty traditional like that.

48 is alder/pao ferro, sadowsky single coils and preamp:

I can see myself owning one of these!

Dude, that bass is "so completely my thing" it's not even funny.
I have a Sadowsky Metro RV-JJ that is also alder+r/w, but has the Sadowsky HC J pickups, which are definately "more hi-fi"...the extra grit and mid push out of the Sadowsky Single Coils is a beautiful thing.

That's the 4th Valenti I've owned now. They've all been steallr basses, but this one suits me, personally super-fine.

What's the weight on that? I'd love to have a 8-ish lb. 4 string version built in all white with black hardware and a neck pickup cover. Does Nino do Ebony necks?

just over 9lbs...like 9lbs 4 oz or so, tho it's been a while since i measured...

whether Nino can do an 8lb 4 banger, you'd have to ask him; but, just moving to 4 strings would have obvious weight savings.

You built it, so you'd know, but just eyeballin' it, it looks like the neck pu is between the p location and Ray sweetspot. I thought the placement looked similar to the pu placement on the Sadowsky Modern, honestly.
I just took some measurements and the pickups on the Valenti are 1/2" closer to the neck then the Sadowsky 24F5. Very similar in location.

Very nice. You went with DCs, right? I stand by my original assessment that your new bass will sound meaner'n hell.
Yeah, DC's.

The neck p.u is in the treble coil of a P position, bringing it closer to the bridge than your bass. If I wanted to make it vintage style (which I came very close to doing with a clear p/g), a standard p/g would of covered the p/u.

Also, hope I didn't sound like a rod in my previous post, you do great work.
Not at all. :bassist:

I was going for the Spector US Neck through soapbar spacing which is also similar for a Sadowsky 24F5.

More like an L-5500:

Not the one I used to own but this is what it looked like:

Mr. Walmsley, now what does the Funkfather need with a tuxedo bass!? :bassist: It would be stylin'! Played an ebony board Valenti at the NYC GTG two years ago, equipped with EMG's. Always wondered what a big full range pup like an Aero or Nordy J would sound like.

Nino's gear is light, for sure. My Valenti J5 has to be near two pounds lighter than my Lakland JO5.

And I dig the painted headstocks.

LOL! I just have this thing for white basses! I'm a huge fan of Larry Graham's white Moon basses and have been GASing for one ever since. I did have a custom (The Funk Machine traded for with a TB member) for a minute but had to sell it to fund other GAS items! But I want one customized to MY wants! Just waiting on some funding and I will be contacting Nino for sure! As for weight, I'm cool up to 9lbs! :) I'm sorry your JO5 is a heavy one. I lucked out and traded for a lightweight one. I have not weighed it but it can't be more than 8.5lbs. Everyone who picks it up can't believe how light it is!

I really wanna hear clips of the new red one. That pick up placement is intriguing.

Oh man oh man oh man!!! I've never seen one of your basses with that pickup spacing. You have to tell me how it sounds. I'm getting Valenti GAS all over again!
You tell me. :)
