Very cool. I like it. Never would have guessed given the "unconventional" placements (though, as you pointed out, the neck pup is pretty close to a P position). Kudos to you for doing something different. That paid off nicely.

I placed the pickups in a similar position like my Spector NS5 and a Sadowsky 24F5. I was going for that tight, focused, punch sound that I was familiar with in those basses and I think I've achieved it.

I haven't played it in a band setting yet (next Friday) but I'm sure that it'll sound great.

Played the Valenti out for the first time at church on Friday night. GREAT bass! It had the fat, punchy jazz tone I was looking for and fit well with the trio (drums, acoustic guitar/vocals, bass). It sounded huge and even across all of the strings. I am a happy camper.

this thing is so beautiful and easy to play that at one point, i was so deep and lost on the groove of what i was doing, i forgot to swallow, and was actually drooling a little out of the corner of my mouth.

gross, but true: they're that good.

Shared too much? Yes. Can we relate? Yes. I feel the same way about #100. I don't think a trade has ever worked out so well for me before - thanks!

I've posted it before, but I will again... I played again at church yesterday. We're talking about the bass into a Countryman DI, direct to the board with a tiny bit of compression. I have never gotten so many compliments on my tone - ever. I've owned multiple Sadowskys before, Fodera, and on and on. One of our vocalists (not singing, but was out in the congregation) was talking to my wife afterward and said, "The bass sounded sooooo good today!"

Each time I play it, I am in awe of the bargain that these MADE IN AMERICA basses are. Cash is quite tight right now, but when things loosen up a bit, I'm debating whether I want to have Nino build me a fretless before prices go up, or try to build a live rig that accurately reproduces the sound I get in my ears of this bass running direct.
