Very cool! Hey Smurf and Nino, a noob question.
Do those soapbar type pickups sound much different than std J's? I've only had them in a Laklnd 55-01. Really, Nino, what I'm asking is if you can rig a bass to give a modern sound, ala Fodera let say, by pickup selection.
Do those soapbar type pickups sound much different than std J's? I've only had them in a Laklnd 55-01. Really, Nino, what I'm asking is if you can rig a bass to give a modern sound, ala Fodera let say, by pickup selection.
Soapbar is just a shape, not a sound, and EMG puts everything in that shape (Js, Ps, humbuckers, et cetera), though I chose 35CS pickups. Having said that, the electronics you choose (pickups, preamp, et al.) and the placement of the pickups will have a significant impact on how an instrument sounds. I won't definitively state that these choices have the most impact (because opinions differ), but they are high on the list, certainly, and way more impactful than cocobolo neckbinding, AAAAA flamed caps and butterflies on the headstock.
