bassclef04 said:I gotta say I am truly enjoying my new Valenti 5 string and the neck profile is awesome feels like a cross between a Fender deluxe 5 and Carvin SB5000
I saw that. Intriguing. I like 6 string basses, although most of the ones I see look like weapons. The idea of a well built six with an understated J look appeals to me.Well, it's official. Nino is getting into building 6'ers now.

My gig schedule stopped on a dime last fall for no particular reason, and right now I need another bass as much as I need a winter coat. But we'll see.
Cool! Specs?
This is what I'm thinking:
STJ5 (Candy Red)
35 inch Scale
Alder Body
Maple Neck/Fingerboard
-Dotless
Stainless Frets
Hipshot B Bridge/Ultralite Tuners
No Neck Plate/Countersunk Neck screws
Nordstrand Big Splits (Bart style covers)
Passive Tone Circuit
60's Spacing
1-7/8 Nut Width
19mm Spacing
Still trying to decide on Chrome vs. Black hardware and also considering going with Hipshot Y tuners verses the clovers.
Here's a few pictures of my new Valenti 5. It's Nino's version of my Lakland Darryl Jones but with a narrower neck and 34 inch scale. Hope it shows up in time to gig with it this weekend!! If it plays as good as it looks, it's a winner!!
So, this is what I'm thinking...
An STJ5

With the following Specs:
35 inch scale
Alder Body
60's Spacing
Maple Neck/Fingerboard (No Inlays/Dots)
Hipshot B Bridge/Tuners
Nordstrand Big Splits (wired Passive)
Stainless Frets
No Neck Plate
I'm not sure what finish I wanna go with yet. I've been considering White and maybe going with black hardware. I also like the idea of a blue of some type? Any suggestion will be appreciated!
Also, Nino's maple fingerboards are finished to avoid any blackening, right?
Thanks!
I have 1 7/8" nut width on my Elrick fretless 6. It's more narrow than you'll find on just about any other 6, but it's soooo comfortable. Just picturing a narrow-spaced shell pink Valenti 6 makes me want to search the couch cushions![]()
