Big +1 to that! It's also great that Nino offers options that the other big boutique guys don't. I mean who else offers complete choice of hardware, electronics, string spacing and scale length. As I said a few posts above, it'll be a while before I have my bass yet I'm so happy with choosing to go with Nino for my dream build.

Hope you guys don't confuse my excitement in my earlier post for complaining. I'm not complaining about the wait time. I'm just ready to see this bass come to life! The longest I've had to wait on a bass was 8 weeks.

And yea, Chef. I'm glad he's getting the business too. I've wanted a custom J for a while now but haven't been at a place in my life that I could afford it. I finally am now, and Nino was the guy I went with because I have owned 2 of his basses that others had spec'd out and they were amazing, just not "exactly" what I wanted. So, I spec'd out exactly what I wanted and made an order!

You guys waiting for your Valenti builds I feel your pain, Nino makes an incredible instrument. I just got a Nordy J5, and I love it.....but my Valenti isn't going anywhere. I think Ninos basses can stand with ANY jazz bass out there. You won't find a better bass for your money or a better guy to deal with...:bassist:

That is a cool one all right. I was the original customer, and I tend to not use vol knobs on passive single-pup basses, so I had him leave it off. Easy enough for somebody else to add if they want.

I sold it to TB'er "Snaxter", don't know if he put it on consignment at that shop or if there's been another owner since then.

Tip for new owner: it's begging to be played through a cranked dirty amp, a la Dusty Hill.

Said it before, I'll say it again... very nice playing and very nice tone, Will! That song almost sounds like it has a bit of SHT influence to it. Am I making that up?

Thanks, Erich. Most of the songs we recorded began as Devon's sketches (the guitarist), which explains why the music has more chord changes than one might expect from a funk band. That tune began life as a rehearsal jam, though, so it might be more what Fina Dupa sounds like organically. No particular influences. Glad you like it.

On a related note - recently I listened to a live recording we made several years ago, maybe 2007. In the recording I was playing through the iAmp 800 I bought from you. I only had that amp for 18 months or so - it just wasn't loud enough - but I still think it was the best sounding amp I ever played through.

It's an interesting commentary on how long some of us around here have known each other, even though we've never met. Viva la internets.

Very cool.

Ahhh, the iAmp800. I still remember the tone of that little beast. One of my favorite tones I ever achieved was running my Atelier into that through an Aguilar GS112 at this tiny jazz gig. I'd just purchased the Atelier and it came with D'Addario nickels. I've always been a stainless guy, but the iAmp was so bright, combined with the GS112's tweeter, it just worked beautifully!

Anyway, that's a cool story (bro... seriously, though). It is funny how we can end up brought together. If I ever make it out to Denver again (was born/grew up there), I'll definitely give you a shout. This is why I dig TB so much. Rarely have time to be on here anymore. :(
