The Valenti Megathread Part IV

Harumph on Canadian Customs.
If I see any gig pictures from Niagara Falls, Canada with my bass, I'll be p!$$ed!
So sorry to hear that. That SUCKS!
Nino was watching it too and emailed me after 10:00pm tonight to let me know it cleared customs. Not many builders would bother.

Should have the bass in time for the weekend!:hyper:

While we wait on baird6869's to arrive, I thought I would share Valenti 188. Took 11 months to get it but worth the wait! Nino has once again created an exceptional instrument. The specs are:

Black HipShot Hardware
-B Bridge 17mm
-Ultralites
-String retainers

Dude, that is absolutely killer. What kind of inlays are they?

Oh, and my bass is "out for delivery" and will be here any time and I am conveniently working from home today.

Unfortunately it is about -20F today (coldest day of the year) so I may have to let it sit for a bit before opening.

I think maybe DAddario pro steel are his "default string," but I can't swear to that.
I -rrrrreallllly- like the new Dunlop Bright Nickle. There's a thread on them in strings if you want to read on them.

Nino and I were messaging this morning.
Apparently, I've had 9 of his basses now.
I may have a problem.

Currently, four.

I am loving the Super Bright Nickels too. Great strings.

9 out of a possible <200 could be considered a problem. ;)

Very nice, Nino!

My first impressions are all positive except for some fret sprout. Of course, it is extremely cold and the bass was travelling for almost 2 weeks. Would have happened with any bass and I'm sure it will settle down quickly. Not a problem in any way.

The finish is amazing. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, which is neat. Not a bubble, bump or imperfection to be found. Pat did an amazing job.

The neck feels great and I love the fretboard. The Birdseye is beyond excellent and the glossy finish reminds me of my 1972 Fender Jazz.

I am very glad that I went with the Nordy big singles and Nordy pre. Sounds great and completely different than my Foderas. It will be a very versatile bass but also give me the ability to have a real active funk machine, which is cool.

I asked for light, and this bass is light. Under 8lbs but feels more like under 7. Feels great on a wide strap and the suede prevents it from diving. Very ergonomic bass for me in any case.

One last thing... after seeing the build pics, I was a bit worried that the 24 fret board and neck pickup placement would seriously inhibit my ability to slap. It turns out that there is JUST enough room for me to very comfortably slap. Again, cool.

Can't wait to try this out with one of my bands, but I expect it will be killer!

Here is the "ghost bass" porn! Thanks to Noahw1 for the name! LOL

P.s. The bass looks WAY better in person!
