It's my current 24 fret body. This bass is 33". The neck pocket is a little deeper in to the body and the bridge lays out further away from the edge of the body. Also, it has custom pu spacing which brought them closer to the neck.

I have a big Canada Day gig tomorrow. Few hundred people outdoors and it is a great gig I have played for 6-7 years in a row with a few different iterations of my band. Lots of fun.

Kinda a classic rock gig with this new-ish band, so my Ken Lawrence and fretless FBass will be staying at home and the Fodera and Valenti will get the nod. My whiteburst Valenti will be getting a good workout for sure tomorrow. Hopefully I remember to get some good pics!

So, here are some outdoor photos (still not great at figuring out where the best light source will be). I picked this bass up at about 7pm Arizona time last night and have played it as much as I can. I really like the basses Nino makes, but he knocked this one out of the park. The wenge neck is unfinished so it has a totally different feel that has satin finished necks. I really love that Lakland ahnd-rubbed neck thing and this bass has a lot of the same characteristics. This is also my first experience with Nordy Big Singles and I love them. They have a nice heavy single coil tone (something I feel the DCs lack). It is also a very nice weight, not too heavy, not too light. Best of all, the trip to Arizona didn't completely destroy the setup (perhaps because of the wenge?) and it was ready to play straight out of the box. I asked Nino to set the action super low and it definitely low, but consistent accross the neck and with no string buzz. I will try to post some demo clips in the coming days.

Thanks, The precision everywhere is impressive. There are absolutely zero abnormalities or flaws anywhere in the bass. I do not know how much the Wenge neck really changes the construction, but this could easily pass for a $5000 bass from a craftsmanship perspective.

Well, she finally arrived on Monday and after a crazy weekend of being on my own to watch my kids and with some weird electrical problems in our house I didn't get much time to get to know her. Last night after work though, after letting it all sink in, and getting sometime to really play her I'm in love!

First off, she's gorgeous, but even more than her looks is that she sounds great - both in active and passive mode. The tonal options are fantastic. Between the P, J, active and passive modes I've got it all covered. Even with the J soloed it's burpy but not nasally or thin sounding at all.
The weight is really nice - very light. I've got back and neck issues so this was important.
The neck finish and profile are perfect. I feel right at home on the neck. The slightly smaller body is a slight adjustment but I'm sure I'll be fine with it after this week's practice and gig. The balance is also very good for being so light.

The Ice Blue Metallic paint is also amazing. It's really interesting in person with many different looks in various lights. My daughter thinks it gorgeous. As I mentioned this color was in honor of my Grandmother and the mercurial nature of it in person is perfect. Beautiful, fierce and refined.

Also, I checked out the case which is really great and something I didn't notice was that Nino had put an extra set of his strings in the gig bag pocket! Sweet.

Thanks, Nino, for making such great basses. I've no doubts my Grandmother is looking down at it and saying "that's beautiful!" She'd be so happy for me.
