Aaaggghhhh!!!!

Don't get me started again after being completely ripped off 6-7 years ago by that "Ibanez Collector" clown.

He did a bit of relic work for Nino from what I recall (his relic work wasn't completely terrible) but his own "Reliced"(sp?) basses were such a disaster that my review of the nightmare he built me basically made him leave TB never to be seen again.

I bought a PJ bass and he screwed up the bridge (1/2" off centre, 1"+ too far back), the finish was brutal, his headstock logo was a sticker over the lacquer (fell off during shipping).... Oh...and he forgot a volume knob/control. He gave me a tone control only (which was wired wrong).

I never say anything bad about anyone on TB, but this guy is a total waste. I will give the name of this guy via PM only to anyone interested as he was such a disaster that I don't want anyone else to get ripped by him.

In any case... Still loving my Valenti!!!!

Apropos of nothing other than your own experience with ibanezcollector.

As I recall, he relic'd two basses for Nino, this one and a blue one. He did the relic only as I recall and Nino built the basses.
Which i'd wager are up to his usual standards.
If i didn't already have a Valenti pj5 I'd hit that one with no reservations.

Absolutely correct and agree.

Nino wouldn't ship a bass IMO that he didn't think was close to perfect or exactly as the customer requested. The two that this guy did for Nino might be his best and/or only good work he has done.

The bass in question looks great in any case.

Yeah: I mostly don't like matching headstocks, ever.
I'd recommend finding someone who could photoshop that up for you.
With blocks and binding, there might be enough contrast for me to dig that, but, unless you're building it for me, my opinion don't matter much :D

I agree with this but photoshop could be a smart move.

I was worried that a matching headstock on my whiteburst Valenti (maple board) would look crappy or too over the top but I love how it turned out. YMMV of course!

Hey, guys and gals. Anyone have a roundabout answer as to what kind of deposit Nino requires and what his lead times are? I've got an email into him, so I know I'll hear from him in the next day or so, but I was just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head?

I WAS pretty set to start the process for a Sadowsky, after a few nights of going through the Valenti Megathreads and finding what I could on YT, I'm pretty set on starting the process for a Valenti...;)

Nino quoted me 6-7 months for a PJ5 build I am considering. This was a few weeks ago.

I sent Nino a $500 deposit on my first Valenti last year.

If things have changed, I'm sure Nino will chime in.

Also, I have owned 3 Sadowskys and they were great instruments. Valentis are in the same league IMO but much less expensive and much more customizable.

Thanks! That's about what I expected. I sent him an email last night, so I'm sure I'll hear from Nino tomorrow or Tuesday and I'll spec out a few more things, but I'm pretty convinced this is the way I'm gonna go...

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the S24j, and the V24FJ. When I look at some of the pictures the same model can have two different pickup placement and two different preamp set up even with the Same pre amp. I'll be ready to order next month and I don't want to ask for the wrong thing thinking I'm getting something else.

Give Nino a call and he will walk you through it. But basically the V24FJ is a standard, more traditional j bass with a slightly smaller body and 24 fret neck. The standard also comes with a traditional pick guard and control plate. The S24J is a more modern version of the j bass and doesn't have a pick guard or control plate.

Nino offers a lot of options on all models, so you can pick what pickups, pickup location, hardware, string spacing, and more. So it's best to talk with him and he will help you through the ordering process.

The difference between a S24F4/5 and a V24FJ4/5 is the "S" doesn't have a pickguard and control plate and the "V" has a pickguard and control plate.
