Yeah, I didn't realize that the serial number is now on the edge and noticed it when I flipped the bass over. Crap! What did I hit that had numbers?!?!?!? Oh......

Mine is 192 and I am pretty sure I have seen 200+ on the front of the headstock.

So when did @Nino Valenti start putting SN's on the bottom edge of the headstock? Around #210?

For a while he was putting them in both places. As an example, #188 has it in both places.

My Sherwood green PJ5 has #162 on the headstock.
My most recent diver sparkle has no visible serial number I can find

I started punching the serial number in the bottom edge of the headstock starting at #187.

From 187-211 the serial number was in the decal in the face of the headstock and punched in on the bottom edge.

From 212 on, the headstock only says "Valenti made in USA" and the serial number is punched in on the bottom the the headstock.

Interesting. I never noticed the # there but that's the one minor complaint about my bass - the color of the Valenti logo (gold) against the ice blue metallic headstock makes it almost impossible to tell what kind of bass it is. The light has to be just right and I want people to know I'm rocking a Valenti.

Love that P-bass with the Nordy blades. Meaty and focused tone with a Sting Ray sort of vibe?

It's definitely meaty. I actually had to go with some rounds, because the flats were almost a little too meaty. I've only played a Sting Ray once, so I can't compare very well. But it is very precise. Sweet playing bass

So, to start, it's kind of ironic the way this bass found its way to me. I had been looking for the perfect, 5 string P for a while. And I'm picky... I really knew exactly what I was looking for, spec-wise, and really didn't care too much about finish. You have to have something that works for you right? As it turns out, I got the exact bass I needed, and the finish I wanted. I had started doing a lot of research on Valenti, and was really sold on what I found. But where to find one? I was pretty sure that I would just have to get one built for what I wanted(still might someday). And that is how I acquired this bass. I was googling Valenti, because I was wanting to go to the homepage, to start looking around, and start figuring out my build. And there it was, on eBay of all things, at the very top of the search page. Registered to eBay, and bought it immediately.

I spent all of last week bonding with this bass. After I received it, I had it set up low, with some Labella Deep Talking Bass Flats. I spent hours playing through a DI with some headphones to really dial things in to get the tone I want. I had two gigs this last weekend, and all I can say is.....

WOW

First thing I notice is how smooth and easy to play it is. The Nordy blades are super aggressive, which was a little different for me, but the tones I was getting out of this thing were incredible. I am very satisfied with this thing. The more I gig, I may have to keep updating this thread, just to brag about this bass.

Or who knows, to get one built someday.

The pickup spacing looks similar to the Sadowsky 5-24 Modern but just a bit further from the bridge.

Nordstrand should be out soon with a hum-cancelling Big Blade which might be cool with series/parallel/single coil switches in a bass like this (feeling a little GAS).

There is no serial number on my Valenti. I believe you once referred to mine as a "Pre-Valenti, Valenti."

While waiting......patiently for my Valenti PJ-5 build I decided a new P4 would be a good addition.
This is V001 from Nino's In-Stock page. Should be arriving Monday and I can't wait to slap some Low Tension flats on it and go "old school".

Had a great gig tonight at a dumpy bar in the boonies about an hour from home.

Cool place where the crowd is all 50+ at 10:00pm and by 12:30, it is 19-25 (drinking age is 19 in Ontario). I pulled out the white burst Valenti 5er for the last set and it just killed. Cool to see a dance floor packed with younger folks having a great time watching a band made up of 45-55 year old dudes.

In any case, the Valenti with Nordy DCs sounds just amazing for Country, metal, alternative, funk, etc. I love this bass because I can play Sublime, Thin Lizzy, Darius Rucker, Eagles, Chili Peppers, Ozzy, etc. and it just fits. I may change my PU blend a little bit from time to time, but I rarely need to touch my EQ.

I love this bass!

Does Niño make a 33 scale Jazz bass with 16.5mm string spacing at the bridge ( 5 string strung low E to high C)? Or a 34 scale with same specs?
