There's a concept in economics described as the law of diminishing returns. I think it applies here.
Nino can build a bada$$ bass!

I got to play another of Nino's basses at a GTG yesterday- an M24-J5 with a pretty spalted top. It's been a few years since I've played a Valenti and they were already awesome back then- they've only gotten better. The neck was flawless and had a great satin finish, and the bass was very light. You really can't get a better J type bass than this.
Does Nino do 18 or 17mm string spacing? And does he use a different neck for these narrower spaced basses or is it the same neck, with the strings closer together using the adjustable bridge saddles on a Hipshot bridge?

Man, that colour is really growing on me. Usually I prefer matching headstocks, but I think it would do your bass a disservice.

Can't believe it is over 2 years...Very nice, Nino!
My first impressions are all positive except for some fret sprout. Of course, it is extremely cold and the bass was travelling for almost 2 weeks. Would have happened with any bass and I'm sure it will settle down quickly. Not a problem in any way.
The finish is amazing. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, which is neat. Not a bubble, bump or imperfection to be found. Pat did an amazing job.
The neck feels great and I love the fretboard. The Birdseye is beyond excellent and the glossy finish reminds me of my 1972 Fender Jazz.
I am very glad that I went with the Nordy big singles and Nordy pre. Sounds great and completely different than my Foderas. It will be a very versatile bass but also give me the ability to have a real active funk machine, which is cool.
I asked for light, and this bass is light. Under 8lbs but feels more like under 7. Feels great on a wide strap and the suede prevents it from diving. Very ergonomic bass for me in any case.
One last thing... after seeing the build pics, I was a bit worried that the 24 fret board and neck pickup placement would seriously inhibit my ability to slap. It turns out that there is JUST enough room for me to very comfortably slap. Again, cool.
Can't wait to try this out with one of my bands, but I expect it will be killer!

This is a killer bass... I played at the NorthEast show and thought it played and sounded great !!Just pulled the trigger on this one. I had a movie soundtrack dumped in my lap. This will be the one getting the work.
So I swapped out the Nordy NJ4's to try another set of jazz pickups.
I unscrewed the back plate and I was awed by how incredibly neat and tidy the cavity looked.
Nothing out of place, everything was tied down, no slop, no loose ends. Then I wondered how much time
Nino spends just soldering and wiring these basses. Just amazing attention to detail.
Even the foam rubber pads under the pickups was hand cut and secured in place by mesh double stick tape.
Are you kidding me???????
I've come to the conclusion that Valenti basses are the best priced basses around for a Fender style bass.
Keep up the incredible work.
I only wish I had the funds for a P bass.
