The bass Altitide is mentioning has a J/MM configuration so I'm assuming the "S" would be for single coil

Single coil, in the neck position. Although if the MM sounded Stingray enough, I might not ever use it.

Edit - I was able to find a picture of Mike and his bass from about 10 years ago.
