The Walking Dead Series 2

Also, in the first scenes of the show you see empty tanks and such.

How did a bunch of slow mindless zombies beat a tank?

How can a bunch of relatively untrained people survive, when the highly trained military shooters where all over run.

anyways... ya I know suspend reality and all.

The guys in the tank were probably bitten at some point. I'd assume it ran out of ammo and gas.

The military had men with machine guns but were over run due to sheer numbers.

The current cast survived by being a small and mobile unit. The people on the farm were simply in a remote enough location to be relatively safe.

My first thought would be that they got the heck out of the city as fast as possible and weren't trying to actively engage any zombies. Plus they played it smarted at times (i.e. sneaking around, smearing zombie gunk on them to blend in).

The Army or whoever came with those tanks were probably trying to take out the zombies and got overrun, which as you saw, could easily happen within Atlanta with that many walkers all around. They didn't beat a tank so much as they removed any option of survival for those around.

Now, my question: why haven't they done hunting parties around the farm? Just to eliminate/reduce the threat?

Apologies if this has been asked already.

They keep an almost constant watch around the farm. The issue of keeping guns on the farm was highly contested in the beginning and relegated to times when they were searching for Sophia.

That, in and of itself, was a 'hunting party' or sorts since in looking for Sophia they were going all over the place and would likely eliminate any threat in the meantime.

Also, keep in mind that until the past few episodes, Hershel was still trying to keep any zombies in the barn and still saw them as 'people'.

Granted about Herschel and the thought of them being human would have stymied any hunting parties. But it seems to me to be WAY too reactive to just wait till they come to you.

I would have been out trying to pick off the singles.

Another thing I would be doing is getting some cars and blocking off a main avenue's side streets to make a "box trap" for the walkers. Lure them down the main street, block off the street behind them. and drive a bulldozer down the street from the other end. Crunch crunch crunch. And saves bullets!:bassist:

Ok... so if they are all carrying the virus and it only becomes active when the host is killed, it could lead to some interesting story lines, such as...
Say Rick's wife has a miscarriage, would the still un-born fetus start to eat her from the inside out?
I think that the virus has been carried in the water that they have been drinking... it's a guess anyway!

Seems like castle-like fortification with moats and drawbridges would work well. Too bad there aren't too many of those in the American South. :hiding:

Well, a school bus pulled up nose to a building would make a good wall, and all you have to do is pull another one up to it either at a 90 degree angle or end to end and you have a pretty effective way fo blocking walkers.

Flatten the tires and stuff some materials under the bus and voila' castle.

I think it would just be a matter of time before you'd have you "free zone" established. You'd need to be pretty selective about the location though.

I thought the quarry in the first season was a pretty smart move.

They just need to get to an island somewhere.

I seriously doubt they'll be on the farm next season. Since they revealed the Governor is in season 3 this other group is probably with him.
