The weather this "winter"

Norcal has been having record heat for the winter as well. Just started raining hard the last couple days but overall this winter has been very warm and dry!

Yeah, particulate pollution only affects weather if it comes from human activity.... wait, what?

I'm not denying global warming BTW, Skitchit.

So it'd seem my statement came across as "Volcanoes don't affect climate!"
It was meant to say, "I couldn't find anything about this specific volcanic eruption being large enough to impact climate; in fact, I found people saying that it would not be large enough to."

There has been no particular winter here at all to note really, if you consider that 13 of world's hottest years on record have been in last 15 years, I'm not surprised personally, imo of course.

Uh...first I was being funny, not alarmist, and this is a laughable argument to be condescending about. No volcanic eruption in the millenium has had this drastic of an effect on weather. Get your facts right before telling another to do their research..

Now seriously I do believe global warming is real and happening, as to its causes I cant definitively say but one has to ignore basic atmospheric science to say we have NO part in it......as for this year, mostly it is attributed to a jet stream oscillation that happens over many decades and this year it has been at the highest (abnormally so) peak of the trajectory causing Arctic air to be held back...is this weather pattern natural or contaminant influenced? I dont know...but "maybe a little research before jumping on the" anybody who believes I might not be able to live this lifestyle without consequences is an idiot bandwagon

Listen, my wife is a student at UMSL and she got her information from one of her professors. I am waiting to hear back from her regarding a link, but you insulting me is only going to make you look stupid later. lol

What it did was change the pattern of the flow of arctic air.

Not really, I wasn't going at you. Most of the particulates have settled a few weeks after. Look its cumulative, so it will add to the effects. I can't believe anyone that would say that a hole in the earth the size of a thousand tail pipes wasn't pumping out greenhouse gas on the scale of a thousand cars for a couple of weeks.

She says something called North Atlantic Oscillations caused arctic air to plummet down on Europe ( mostly Russia) from the arctic circle instead of over the US.

I am not debating global warming. My comment was in response to the tendency of GW alarmists to blame natural, cyclical weather occurances on man made global warming.

Edit: I feel the need to point out from your own link that it starts off saying the "true drivers" of this weather is the oscillation (like I said) and that there merely is "some speculation" that the volcano MAY have some impact....that is far from definitive....now relax and let us return to having calm, casual, friendly discussions again......

While we in the US are enjoying/have enjoyed, a lovely winter, in Europe they are calling it The Beast From the East.

According to The Weather Channel, this could be a trend for a few years. Obviously there is more than one factor at work here. Arctic volcanoes, North Atlantic Oscillations, etc.

In any regard, it is bittersweet. Personally I was very happy we had a mild winter, however, I have friends in Europe and I feel bad for them.
