Mmmm, beer. I'm at home reading technical papers today, so a bit of barley refreshment seems in order. I began the (morning!) with a bottle of St-Ambroise McAuslan Pale Ale. To follow, a Dragon Stout (brewed in Jamaica, very sugary finish). Now that it is lunchtime, I'm cleaning my palate with a Duggan's Brewery 9 IPA, a very crisp and hoppy-licious little beer. Reading papers is fun!

I loves me a good Belgian beer, if done well they're very satisfying. I've been enjoying several beers by Avery and North Coast Brewing Co. If I can find these beers in Fairbanks, Alaska you should be able to find them there.
Avery Brewings The Reverend Quadrupel is a very good Belgian style beer. If I don't know what I want I get one of these.
Recently I tried a couple beers out of their "Demons of beer" series. I had "The Beast" and "Mephistopheles". They are very rich and very powerful beers much in the same vein as a barleywine or imperial stout. My first experience was with "the beast" which was labeled as an ale. It has a very barleywine quality to it and is very rich and has a pleasant lingering aftertaste. For it's alcohol content the alcohol adds a pleasant warmth as opposed to an overt alcoholic burn or taste. It comes in a 12 Oz bottle which I poured into a large wine glass and let come up in temperature. Half way through this beer I was feeling pretty "happy". Turns out it has an ABV of 14.9%. One will do ya. Very good beer though.
The Mephistopheles is a stout from the same series. Very rich and very malty. I likes me a good stout but this was pretty intense. I'd liken it to taking a puff of a good cigar, taking a shot of smooth brandy, a bite of a dark chocolate bar and a shot of espresso and then being slapped by a sexy bartender. Very deep, very rich and malty with the same alcoholic warmth. Again, it'll sneak up on you

.when beer o'clock and band practice arrive it's going to be Tecate in a can (boring I know) only because that's what's in my fridge right now; I'm hoping to farm out the Milwaukie's best premium to the others dudes. yeah, there's a lot of planning and strategy involved with this drinking thing. geez, how do you spell milwaukee? spelling that word is really stressing me out, I'll have to open one of those right now to calm down...
This one from Theakstons Brewery in the U.K. It's an ale/porter IMO, a little thicker and a little stronger from the tap but hard to find in pubs, an autumn drink with a fun name. I also love Chimay from Belgium, V.nice.

If you like Chocolate Stout, do yourself a favor and try the Rogue Double Chocolate Stout.
I meanwhile will try the Young's next time I swing by my [DEL]pusher[/DEL] I mean beer store.
I live in australia and I run a pub in a rural area of Sydney. I love my aussie beer, a Carlton Draught, VB or Hahn Super Dry on tap poured correctly in scorched glasses. I don't know about in other countries, but in australia there are a few conditions we need in order to have our beer come out the way that we want it to come out.
However, I don't mind a corona with lime, hoegaarden and tiger beer.

Bass if I had to pick one beer for the rest of my days.
But I just drank the last Stout form a Dundee variety 12 pack. Not too bad since they substituted the Honey Brown with a Wheat Ale.

That's some great beer. Too bad they only come in 4 packs but man, I love that stuff. The Imperial White is good too.
Picked up some Schell's Oktoberfest and some Boulevard Pilsner. Boulevard's Bob's 47 and Schell's Oktoberfest are probably my favorite American style Oktoberfest brews.
I've been drinking my buddy's home brewed IPA. It's delicious, and somehow he brewed it with cannabis. So it combines two of my favorite vices in one package. The stuff is strong! One bottle will keep you grooving all night long. I have to drink some water for the cotton mouth. Either that or a lager. I drank two once. I was baked all the way until noon the next day.
Just sitting with four bottles of Old Peculiar myself right now, I've just opened the first. Nice full flavour to it, but not as heavy as my usual stout. Its definitely a good Sunday evening beer.
Last night, while gigging, I'd requested some Trappist beer on my rider, had two Chimay, two Tripel Karmeliete and two Kwak! More than made up for the boring Heineken that made up the rest of the beer provided!
I slept very soundly when I got home!
