I had Bud Light last week at a party. We were playing a drinking game and they didn't want me drinking my Sam Adams Double Bock while playing the game, since it's 9.5% ABV. and Bud Light was around 4.5%. I had an unfair advantage. To me, it tasted like carbonated water with a hint of beer flavor. Now anything tastes like water compared to Sam Adams Double Bock. That stuff is just pure beer at it's finest, that and Sam Adams Imperial White.

This is all my opinion mind you so don't start flaming me because of my beer snobbery. I just LOVE good quality beer!

This looks interesting. I'm going to have to search-out a batch next time I'm in NoLa.

I've got a few bottles of Unibroue's Don De Dieu waiting for some friends and I to sample at this evening's BBQ.

So when are you going to give up the Sam Adams and start drinking the good quality stuff?

That was a joke. I like Sam Adams, but I find that there is a lot more to like out there. Lately I find it hilarious that Sam Adams has spent a good deal of money on an ad campaign to convince people they weren't a big company. Yeah, compared to Bud and Miller they're not big, but obviously they're big enough to have an ad campaign.

I'm flexible. Most beers I drink are good stouts and porters: Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Great Lakes Ed Fitz Porter, Founder's Porter, Guinness Draught, etc. But I also appreciate a really, really cold PBR when it's hot out. Horses for courses, you know.

No flaming needed. I was drinking Wheat because its something new, and I was sharing with some friends who don't have the same tastes as me.

It was decent for the night, and was certainly better than the other option PBR.

I went to uni in Manchester, fairly close to the brewery, and that was what we drank when feeling flush. Incredible beer. If anyone knows where to get it on the US West Coast, please please let me know.

heh, i nearly went to manchester uni! if i'd known the brewery was nearby i would have DEFINITELY gone there...

in all seriousness - or at least in the spirit of beer and all that is good about it - i would be happy to post you a bottle of the stuff :ninja: PM me if interested...

actually i might have to check postal costs. but in theory, it's good :D

Not only was Robinsons just over the river, but Boddingtons was visible outside the window. Boddies tastes a lot better when it hasn't travelled very far.

I'd take you up on the (very kind) offer but I'm between houses right now and things are all up in the air. Maybe in a couple of weeks? I'll send over something interesting from this part of the world in exchange, of course...

I've got a 12 pack of Molson Ice sitting here next to me. I just had a a Land Shark lager at the gig I just played tonight since it was the only better choice other than Bud Light. It was a free beer so I wasn't leaving there without at least one. 2 down, 10 to go.......
