I don't think it has **** to do with age, it's whether or not you still sound worth listening to.
at least Pete didn't tell me to put down my 'Gwak a Moley dip' like Springstein did.
I'm getting real tired of this medely crap for a performance. Play the whole song, it might help the A.D.D. stricken populace that is the modern T.V. watcher. They essentially grouped together the short intro theme for CSI: Vegas, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque. I'm not gonna rip on Pete or Roger too much, of the guys who are annoying me in the "milking it for all its worth department" they are quite low on the list. Simmons/Stanley and May/Taylor however...
Also a drum kit for The Who does not include a High hat. just sayin.. Pictures of Lily ftw.
I didn't hear much of it.

Don't get me wrong I truly rate Pino as an absolute monster master!
It's just that The Who as now, for me, just isn't enough of The Who, without John Entwhistle.

First off I dig Pino and "The Who" as well.
However I have just a couple of observations.
- There was a miss start by Pino (and I did not dig through the who thread but I'm surprised nobody mentioned it).
Now IMHO I'm thought it was just a little rough sounding and PT guitar sound was a little thin.
I did dig Roger's vocals and Zak's playing.

Green Day? Are we on the same path of pseudo-punk 3 chord easy-as-**** music?
Radiohead? I guess if the The Who intentionally tried to suck they would be worthy of playing?
Tool? Does someone seriously wanna hear Tool play somewhere other than a bar?
KOL? That doesn't ring a bell...but guessing from your lean, it's either pop-punk or bland as cornmeal.
Coldplay? This one is BY FAR the most legit one you named. But they already had them a while back...oh wait, I'm getting word now that was U2, my bad...and they'd have to stop copying Joe Satriani's music.
There were also the good-looking girls me and my buddy went to the show with.

Exactly. And the downside of these legendary bands playing in the twilight of their years is (sadly) it makes garbage pre-recorded Kanye, Rihanna, Britney, and the Black Eyed Peas look good.
Hopefully those who really know what The Stones, The Who, and future Super Bowl acts of the same time sounded like in their prime are recognizing that.
Leading up to the half time show, I figured that they would only show Pino a handful of times. I only saw him once! It's sad to see such a good bass player kept in the shadows like so many others...
I had pretty low expectations, but ended up liking the show more than I thought I would.
I loved the light show and the target cymbals.
I liked Roger's vocals. He didn't sing the songs the same way he used to, but I liked what he did with them. I'm not sure it looked like he was having that much fun, but I was impressed with his singing.
I couldn't really hear Pino. Zak sounds like a drummer for The Who. I thought Pete was fun to watch.
I was glad to see that The Who can still be The Who, even at their age and missing two irreplaceable members.

I agree, I enjoyed it after fearing that it would be Stones2...
But I must be the only one that heard Pino- thought he sounded good and not over-effected
Never been much of a fan of the Who myself but I can appreciate these guys giving it there all at the show. Pino is a new discovery to me and I'd say he played great and what I could hear audio-wise was fantastic, especially though the surround system 
He did a great job of replicating the late great Entwistles' basslines and the drummer had a Moon-esque style as well so as far as it NOT sounding like the Who, I think that's a bit exaggerated.
Townsend IMO is a disappointment to me though. I never really thought he was that great to begin with and always seemed to me a guy who made up for his average abilities with all the flash and guitar-smashing antics that he was known for. He's good, don't get me wrong but he isn't one of the "greats" in my books. Last night reinforced my opinion for me. Daltry, is a great frontman even still.
I don't mean to offend anyone and I have to admit I wasn't even born yet when the Who were in their prime but their performance last night was merely OK backed up by great fill in musicians and a (previously mentioned) outstanding lightshow.
I do hope that I still have the ability to jam as well as I do now when I reach their ages. You have to have a lot of respect for them as one day we will be their age as well.

And if you are 50+ there's a much higher chance that you know about contractions and can actually spell "You're". Kids today don't know nothing about language. So much to say and unable to communicate, so sad. And which is better, being a has been or a never was?
Why isn't it Weezer? because a lot of viewers would change the channel (not me, I love 'em) and the whole point is to make people stay on that channel so they see the commercials.

I thought it was OK. Better than the Stones were but not as good as Prince or even McCartney was. It didn't start off that great but got better as they went.
Kudos to Daltrey for still singing Baba O'Riley in the original key and not taking it down a step or two. It sounded like an effort, but he gave it what he had. As they show went on, he simultaneously sang better and began to sound a bit winded. Don't know why he seemed to be hunching his shoulders as if they hurt.
I liked Zak Starkey fine. He doesn't seem to have the crazy edge Moon did, but he's closer than anyone else they've had, plus he keeps better time. I loved the cymbals too.
The thing that bugged me the most was that they seemingly didn't bother to work on their vocal harmonies much. I mean, clearly they'd figured out parts, but they scarcely ever seemed to get them in time with each other. It's not that hard to get that stuff right, or close enough, if you put the time in.
I still like Townsend. He's never been and will never be a virtuoso, but for my money he's one of the great rock rhythm guitarists. I enjoy listening to him just playing chords and riffs with attitude more than I do listening to many pentatonic noodlers playing solos.
On reflection, it would be a good idea to get some younger performers in there occasionally. When was the last time someone under 45 did it? I don't know that Radiohead would be my first call, though, unless you want half the audience to get depressed at halftime (j/k, I like Radiohead).
